Unidentified Taris merchant
This shopkeeper was a senior Human man who conducted business on the world of Taris. In the year 3956 BBY, he was unable to settle a debt he had with crime syndicate boss Davik Kang. Kang dispatched a pair of headhunters to find him, trapping him in the Upper City. Galactic Republic troopers Carth Onasi and Revan noticed the disturbance and intervened, eliminating both pursuers. Furthermore, Revan provided the shopkeeper with 100 credits, which he gratefully accepted before departing to repay Kang.
Biography
This vendor, a senior male Human, operated his business on the Outer Rim planet of Taris. He took out a loan from the local crime boss Davik Kang, disregarding his wife's warnings against such a decision. However, in 3956 BBY, when he could not make a scheduled payment of 100 credits, Kang deployed two bounty hunters to collect the money.
The Aqualish and Human bounty hunters located him and cornered him in the Upper City, where they began to harass him. The vendor offered the 50 credits he had left as a partial payment, but the bounty hunters refused, intending to take him to Kang as a warning to others who failed to repay their debts. Knowing he would be killed, the vendor panicked and cried out for assistance.
Revan and Carth Onasi, fugitive Galactic Republic soldiers on a mission to rescue Jedi Master Bastila Shan, had been quietly observing the situation from afar. Upon hearing the cry, they decided to take action. Despite needing to remain unnoticed, Revan chose to step in, approaching the bounty hunters. Revan refused to allow them to harm the vendor, leading to a confrontation that resulted in the death of both hunters.
The vendor thanked Revan and Onasi for saving his life, but understood that it was only a temporary solution, as Kang would continue to send bounty hunters until he was dead or his debt was settled. Realizing the vendor's bleak prospects, Revan offered him the 100 credits he needed. The vendor was extremely grateful and quickly left to repay Kang.
Personality and traits

Ignoring his wife's cautions, this vendor borrowed from Kang, accumulating a debt he was unable to repay. He became anxious and afraid when the bounty hunters caught him. When Revan offered to cover his debt, the vendor was overwhelmed with gratitude and disbelief, astonished by the kindness of the strangers.
Behind the scenes
This vendor's initial appearance in canon was as a non-player character named "bullied merchant" in the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic computer game, where the player, Revan, can interact with him. The player has two chances to gain light side points during the confrontation: first, by choosing to rescue the vendor, and second, by giving him 100 credits. These credits can be recovered afterward by searching the bodies of the deceased bounty hunters, who each carry 50 credits. However, if Revan saves the vendor while wearing Sith trooper armor, the man will be frightened and will quickly flee the scene without speaking to Revan.
There are also multiple non-canon dialogue options available to the player. When the player first approaches the bounty hunters, they can choose to attack them out of malice, or simply back away, in which case the hunters leave with the vendor. Additionally, the player can choose to leave without giving the vendor any credits, or demand 50 credits from him—the latter of which will award the player dark side points. If Carth Onasi is in the party, he will object to such an action and will allow the vendor to leave without taking his credits. However, if Revan is acting alone or is accompanied by any other available party member, the vendor will give him 50 credits and then run away in fear.
