A tentacled being was discovered inhabiting the lunar surface of Trask. In the vicinity of 9 ABY, an individual belonging to this species infiltrated the Razor Crest following repairs conducted by a local dockworker. Once inside the Razor Crest, the being attacked Grogu until Din Djarin intervened, crushing it. Subsequently, Grogu consumed the creature.
This being made its initial appearance in "Chapter 11: The Heiress," an episode from Mandalorian Season Two. Bryce Dallas Howard directed the episode, Jon Favreau penned it, and it originally aired on November 13, 2020. The being emerges towards the episode's conclusion, moving toward Grogu. Hal Hickel, the animation director, stated that the production team contemplated repurposing a being featured earlier in the episode; however, they ultimately determined that a more menacing creature was necessary.
Despite the creature lacking a formal name within the episode, it was internally referred to as an "octo-crab" during the production phase. An octo-fish with a comparable designation had been referenced previously in the 2017 novel titled Aftermath: Empire's End.
