Untitled Star Wars film (Dave Filoni)

An in-development Star Wars motion picture, set within the timeline of the New Republic Era and spearheaded by Dave Filoni, is currently being produced. This movie will showcase a confrontation involving the New Republic against the Imperial Remnants, serving as a finale to the narratives established in The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, Ahsoka, Star Wars: Skeleton Crew and other related shows on the Disney+ streaming service.

Production

During a presentation held at Disney's Investor Day in 2020, Lucasfilm's President, Kathleen Kennedy, made an announcement that interwoven storylines across series like The Mandalorian and Ahsoka would converge, culminating in a "climactic story event."

On April 7, 2023, during a panel discussion at Celebration Europe, the project was unveiled as a cinematic release, with Dave Filoni attached as the director. A corresponding news article published on StarWars.com on the same day verified that the film would provide a conclusion to the storylines originating from series such as The Mandalorian. In an interview with IGN at the event, Kennedy mentioned that the concept for the film had its beginnings over a decade ago and naturally evolved into its present form. She also confirmed that Filoni would be the writer of the film. Also at Celebration, Filoni was interviewed by Variety and revealed that the film would center around a conflict between the New Republic and Imperial Remnants. When interviewed by Empire on May 5, Filoni discussed how he wants the film to deal with moments that "define an era," in this case the space between Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi and Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens.
