Vader - Dark Visions #2 represents the second installment of the canonical comic book miniseries titled Star Wars: Vader - Dark Visions. Dennis "Hopeless" Hallum served as the writer, while Brian Level provided the illustrations. Marvel Comics released it on March 27, 2019.
A rebel spy barely manages to evade capture by Commander Tylux on board the Star Destroyer, Bellicose. Despite Tylux's initial perception of the escape as a failure, his crew assures him that the TIE pilots performed admirably and they will still obtain valuable intelligence from Rebel Alliance data systems. The commander then concedes and instructs his crew to transmit a message indicating the mission's success.

Soon after, the commander is informed that Darth Vader, the Dark Lord of the Sith, is en route to personally take custody of the captured spy. Anxious about Vader's potential reaction to the news of the spy's escape, Tylux recalls an incident from years prior when he, as a Lieutenant, witnessed Vader's severe punishment for failure.
Driven by panic, the commander orders the ship to pursue the spy in hopes of capturing him for Lord Vader. The Bellicose deviates from the main fleet, searching for the Rebel vessel within a nearby asteroid field. While other officers express concerns about the potential damage from the asteroids, they are quickly silenced when the commander locates the Rebel ship on the scanners.
The spy is taken by surprise upon seeing the Star Destroyer and commands his droid, Exo, to maneuver their ship to avoid destruction by the Imperial vessel. Soon, the spy is pursued by a squadron of TIE Fighters with orders to disable, not destroy, the ship to allow for the spy's capture. To Tylux's relief, the spy's ship sustains a direct hit. Cornered by the TIE fighters, the spy makes a desperate attempt to escape by fleeing into a sandstorm on a nearby planet.
Increasingly worried about Vader's potential wrath, the commander orders the TIE pilots to pursue the spy onto the planet, disregarding repeated warnings from his staff about the dangers posed by the sandstorm to the fighters and the potential damage it could inflict during landing.
As predicted by the officers, the pilots struggle with visibility, and the TIE fighters' engines begin to overheat, mirroring the spy's ship. The spy then exits the planet's atmosphere, hoping the TIEs will follow. When the TIEs' engines finally give out, the spy turns back and destroys the immobilized Imperial ships. Tylux, in a state of further panic, orders the cruiser to follow the spy's renewed escape attempt, leading the Star Destroyer deeper into the asteroid field.

The spy encounters an Exogorth and flies straight into its mouth, prompting Tylux to order the Star Destroyer to follow. The cruiser barely fits inside the creature's mouth as the spy fires into the back of its throat, creating an exit. The Star Destroyer rips the beast apart as it continues its pursuit. Although the ship is now within range of the tractor beam, the system malfunctions due to widespread power surges caused by Mynocks damaging critical equipment.
The commander orders maximum shield power, but the Mynocks have already disabled them. Five Rebel cruisers emerge from Hyperspace, leaving Tylux speechless as he orders the crew to abandon ship. As the Rebel cruisers fire on the Star Destroyer, and the ship nears total destruction, Tylux sees Lord Vader approaching, reminding him that failure is unacceptable.
