Vanto Bazren, known by the alias Fuse, was a male Zabrak soldier serving the Republic. Holding the rank of lieutenant, he was a member of Havoc Squad. His allegiance shifted during the Cold War, as he defected to the Sith Empire. However, he later regretted his decision to serve the Empire and was persuaded to return to the Republic by Havoc Squad's new commander.
Vanto possessed advanced degrees in the fields of chemical engineering, structural engineering, and music theory. He was the youngest individual to be a part of Havoc Squad.
In the year 3643 BBY, Vanto was stationed on Ord Mantell amidst an ongoing civil war. During this time, he discovered a nuclear ZR-57 bomb developed by the Separatists. He then provided instructions to a newly enlisted soldier, guiding them in defusing several mines and preventing the bomb's deployment. Ultimately, he, along with several other members of Havoc Squad, betrayed the Republic, driven by their prior betrayal on Ando Prime.
Following his betrayal of the Republic, Fuse journeyed to Tatooine with the intention of studying bombs. His goal was to utilize them to disable walkers through an electric charge detonated within the bombs. However, Colonel Gorik desired to use these bombs for live testing on populated areas instead of the open desert. Vanto refused, resulting in his imprisonment. While his bombs were used to terrorize civilians, he managed to contact the new lieutenant, whom he remembered from his time on Ord Mantell. He provided the lieutenant and Sergeant Jorgan with the coordinates of a concealed base within a cave, where the bombs were stored. After Havoc Squad members successfully defused and destroyed the bombs, they located the final bomb near the prison holding Vanto. Upon their arrival, Fuse resisted rescue, deeming himself unworthy of the risk, and urged his rescuers to prioritize stopping Gorik. The lieutenant, however, refused to abandon him and chose to extract him as the bomb initiated its self-destruction sequence. Vanto expressed his gratitude to the lieutenant for their actions and consented to rejoin the Republic due to their efforts. Subsequently, his position within Havoc Squad was taken by Tanno Vik.
