Varl, alternatively called Varl Prime, existed as a planet situated within the Outer Rim Territories of the galaxy. This planet was in orbit around 3 moons. As part of Hutt Space, Varl functioned as the initial homeworld for the Hutt species; they abandoned Varl to get away from the Kayfoundo Kapa. Hyperspace routes linked it to Saki and Nal Hutta, and it was found at location S-11 on the Standard Galactic Grid. In 29 BBY, Grott, a Pyke Baron, made an attempt to cultivate Kayfoundo Kapa on Varl's moon known as Black Rock, intending to utilize them as biological weapons. However, these creatures broke free and spread uncontrollably throughout the Varl system, which led to a quarantine of the entire star system.
