Vaverone Zare was a Sith female Human who existed during the era of the Cold War. Her mission led her to Tatooine with the objective of acquiring the holocron that once belonged to Darth Nihilus, all while racing against the Jedi Knight, Nariel Pridence.
In the year 3643 BBY, Zare journeyed to the desert planet of Tatooine with the express purpose of locating the holocron of Darth Nihilus, which at the time was in the possession of the criminal kingpin Diago Hixan. Zare attempted to establish communication with Diago by orchestrating a raid by Geonosians on his spice storage facility situated at the edge of the Jundland Wastes. Simultaneously, a smuggler captain, who was in search of a sensor computer for Diago, conducted an investigation on behalf of Diago's second-in-command, Tookreek, in order to obtain a krayt dragon tooth. Zare made an attempt to convince the smuggler to set up a meeting with Diago, but her request was denied, which led her to incapacitate the smuggler. She chose to let the smuggler live, reminding them that her offer was still on the table.
At a later time, Zare dispatched Imperial commandos to launch an assault on Diago's summer palace, where the smuggler was in a meeting with Tookreek. Following the smuggler's successful defense against the attack, Zare reached out to them via hologram, reiterating her proposition, but was once again turned down, prompting her to order another attack, which the smuggler also managed to survive.
Eventually, Zare located the smuggler at Diago's oasis, known as the Lightspring, where the Jedi Knight Nariel Pridence was present. Moreover, Diago's mental instability caused him to command his droids to eliminate anyone they saw, which resulted in a chaotic battle involving all four parties. Zare met her end during the conflict, along with Diago.
If the player character controlling the smuggler is male and chooses to align with Zare against Pridence, a romantic relationship can develop between them. A smuggler who chooses to side with Zare would later be contacted with a message from her. Within the message, Zare revealed to the player that she had assumed the title of "Darth Alluress" after successfully acquiring the holocron. A neutral choice of ignoring both can be made, that results in Zare's victory as well.
