Veron Minor, often shortened to Veron, existed as a planet within the Mektrun Cluster. It held the position of the second planet within the Veron Minor system. The indigenous Gazaran people were governed by the ancient noble lineage of Araba. This planet was a popular destination for sightseers. Ferlem Kie'hintack once served as the Imperial Governor of this world.
Veron was described as a "rustic" trading hub, largely defined by its extensive forests and tropical jungles. The tropical rainforests on Veron were famous for the presence of fevvenor trees, which blanketed over three-quarters of the planet's landmass. Only the mountains and coastal regions did not support these trees. Veron also possessed a rich and intricate biosphere, fostering a diverse array of unique life forms. These rainforests were frequently blessed with brief, yet revitalizing rain showers. Due to the planet's minimal axial tilt, the weather remained relatively consistent, with seasonal shifts primarily indicated by variations in rainfall rather than significant temperature fluctuations. Temperatures at the highest point of the trees were comfortably warm for Humans, rarely dipping below 35 degrees Celsius and often hovering around 40 degrees. However, below the treetops, both rainfall and temperature decreased noticeably. At ground level, the average temperature was around 25 degrees Celsius.
Veron featured four continents: Vusl, Ganzka, Ablor, and Norol. Additionally, it was home to three oceans: the Alboz Sea, the Sea of Graves, and the Dizenk-Olvod Ocean.
The primary spaceport, named Trelbio, served as the arrival point for most visitors entering the system. The native Gazaran people constructed impressive "tree cities" and actively promoted tourism. These cities boasted vibrant and bustling marketplaces where tourists willingly paid high prices for local wood crafts and sculptures. Given their sharp claws, which allowed them to effortlessly penetrate the trunks of fevvenor trees, the Gazaran had no need for traditional ladders, ramps, or other artificial climbing aids. Instead, a Gazar would simply leap from one tree trunk to another. However, Gazaran cities were thoughtfully adapted to accommodate visitors who lacked this gliding ability, with ramps and walkways being a common sight, especially near marketplaces and public areas. Beneath the Gazaran cities lay the forest underbrush, a popular destination for naturalists. Businesses catering to tourists interested in exploring the underbrush were conveniently located near the marketplace areas. Imperial troops were frequently seen in tree cities, primarily focusing on crime prevention.
Each city could house anywhere from approximately 25 to thousands of individuals, all living and working together within a defined radius of the home tree of the respected elder female. The largest cities included Hengin Ki-Tapp Well Gon-far (situated just west of Trelbio Spaceport, with a population exceeding 100,000 Gazaran), Gazzt So-Terr Aggul Meztim-Si (located on the continent of Ganzka, with over 50,000 Gazaran), Burll-ikem-Tiz-Sah (the largest Gazaran city overall, with 350,000 residents), and Distt Dok.
The Broken Trees Islands formed a chain of islands situated in the northern hemisphere. According to Gazaran lore, these islands were the remnants of a vast continent that once housed the first great Gazaran civilization. For unknown reasons, a powerful storm struck the continent, destroying many of the trees. After days of relentless storms, most of the land submerged, leaving only the mountain peaks visible. Remarkably, some Gazaran managed to migrate to the other continents. Scientific expeditions to the islands uncovered ancient Gazaran artifacts in the shallow waters, attracting numerous tourists for aquatic explorations.
In either 1 ABY or 2 ABY, the bounty hunter Kal-tan-shi assassinated two Rebel Alliance Mon Calamari envoys, along with their seven-member security detail, on Veron. Subsequently, Rebel lieutenant Tole Warren was tasked with tracking down Kal-tan-shi, as Warren was the only non-droid individual proficient in Tiss'shar. Although Warren never apprehended Kal-tan-shi, he located his ship, the Accuser, and identified a malfunction in the starboard thrust converter.
Veron's governor, seemingly in league with Roganda Ismaren, vanished on 'vacation' in 12 ABY.
Veron's animal life was abundant and diverse, with a wide array of insects, small herbivores, avians, and large predators inhabiting the forests. The majority of higher-order life forms were reptilian and cold-blooded, although their tolerance for temperature variations differed significantly among species. Unlike typical reptiles, many creatures gave birth to live offspring. A point of interest for visiting biologists was the surprisingly small amount of food required by many of these creatures to thrive, especially when compared to creatures of similar size and activity levels on other planets. Due to the high sensitivity of Veron's creatures to temperature changes, many were found only at specific altitudes within the trees. The Gazaran, requiring warmer temperatures than most other creatures, typically inhabited the tree top regions. Other inhabitants of the upper trees included small avians and foraging reptiles such as the dressto, fevvenor toad, and turmil lizard. Ground-level life forms included many of the planet's large carnivores, such as the Gwerax-hai, black behemoths and swamp worms. Their inability to venture to the tree tops for extended periods limited their threat to the Gazaran, although they were known to attack unwary tourists.
