Versatile-Athletic Walker

The experimental personal scout walker known as the Versatile-Athletic Walker, also referred to as the "zalaaca walker" (named after the zalaaca species), was created by Baktoid Industrial Systems.

Characteristics

Drawing inspiration partly from the zalaaca species of Naboo, this four-legged personal scout walker was designed for exceptional speed. The zalaaca walker featured reverse-jointed legs, a slender, multi-jointed body, and a lengthy tail used for balance and directional control. Located at the rear, an antenna functioned as a short-range sensor array. The front was designed to somewhat resemble the face of a predatory animal, complete with a threatening auto-blaster positioned underneath. Accommodations were made for two occupants: a pilot in the front seat and a passenger seated behind. The zalaaca walker's distinctive construction allowed for impressive acceleration, resilience, and maneuverability, enabling it to navigate a diverse range of challenging landscapes.

The zalaaca walker was known for its turbulent, jarring, and difficult riding experience, a consequence of the engineers' prior experience with drone manufacturing. Furthermore, sharp turns could easily induce motion sickness.

History

Following the rise of the Galactic Empire in 19 BBY, Baktoid Combat Automata was seized and integrated into the Empire. Dissatisfied with their new leadership, several prominent engineers and executives departed Baktoid to establish Baktoid Industrial Systems. The Versatile-Athletic Walker, a striking walker modeled after the zalaaca species, was among the first creations of this newly formed company. Production numbers remained low, and it was rumored that almost all units were gifted to the Alliance to Restore the Republic as a gesture of gratitude for providing sanctuary to numerous Baktoid Combat Automata employees fleeing the takeover.
