Viith Yalu was the individual dispatched by the Yuuzhan Vong, holding the title of Master Shaper, to oversee the Damutek installation located on Wayland amidst their invasion targeting the New Republic. This Wayland installation was among various endeavors by the Shaper caste, aiming to decipher the Force and overcome the Jedi; however, Viith Yalu's greatest achievement stemmed not from Shaper bioscience, but from establishing communication with Bey Gandan. Gandan was a Jedi captive dispatched to the system as a slave, seemingly already driven mad by envy and animosity due to his comrade Klin-Fa Gi's relationship with Yabeley.
Gandan, the Jedi, willingly allied himself with the Yuuzhan Vong, permitting Viith Yalu to insert a villip into his mind, and collaborated in a scheme to act as the invaders' operative in a plan to disrupt bacta manufacturing on Thyferra. This scheme concerning bacta was thwarted by the actions of Klin-Fa Gi alongside Uldir Lochett.
