Wald was a male Rodian who was subjected to slavery on the desert planet of Tatooine during the period of the Naboo Crisis. Living in the Mos Espa Slave Quarters, he counted Anakin Skywalker among his childhood friends. He, Kitster Banai, and the droids R2-D2 and C-3PO together acted as Anakin's pit crew during the Boonta Eve Classic podrace. Wald's age at this point was six years. Later in life, Wald, along with Kitster and numerous others, was freed from enslavement by Sabé and Tonra, subsequently establishing a new existence with many other freed slaves at a colony located on Gabredor III.
The role of Wald was portrayed by Warwick Davis, the same actor who also took on the roles of Wicket W. Warrick in Return of the Jedi, Weeteef Cyu-Bee in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and Weazel in both The Phantom Menace and Solo: A Star Wars Story.
