Waran Val

Waran Val, a [Kel Dor](/article/kel_dor], held the position of representative for the Matukai within the Convocation of the Force located on the moon of Jedha during the High Republic Era. Around 382 BBY, during a Convocation gathering, Waran made an attempt to assault a Yacombe envoy who had journeyed to Jedha seeking membership in the Convocation. Following discussions about the Yacombe's allegiance by Sirené, the Fallanassi delegate, and Susalee, representing the Lonto, Waran questioned the Yacombe's silence and lack of self-representation for confirmation. Elris Florent, the representative from the Disciples of the Whills, then reminded Waran of the Yacombe's nature—their communication through proxies—highlighting the Matukai's prior knowledge of this fact.

The Kel Dor, mistakenly believing the Yacombe remained adherents of the dark side, expressed surprise to Florent that a Disciple of the Whills would support a dark sider, asserting they should be more discerning. Subsequently, Waran lunged forward with their ax to strike the envoy, intending to safeguard the light. In the process of their attack, Susalee was struck, but Jedi Oliviah Zeveron's intervention prevented Waran from reaching the Yacombe. Waran demanded Zeveron's withdrawal, but Zeveron refused, emphasizing that while the Matukai professed to protect the light, the envoy was the only one not engaged in conflict. This observation gave Waran and the other representatives pause. Ultimately, this incident convinced the envoy that Jedha was an unsuitable location for the Yacombe, leading to their departure.
