Elris Florent was a devotee of the Disciples of the Whills religion during the High Republic Era. In the year 382 BBY, she served as the representative of the Disciples on the Convocation of the Force council, which convened on the sacred moon of Jedha. Florent voiced her support for the Yacombe faith when their envoy sought membership within the Convocation.
Subsequently, Florent backed the Guardians of the Whills, who protected the Temple of the Kyber, in their decision to apprehend Tey Sirrek, a thief, for the bombing that occurred at the temple. Furthermore, she defended her beliefs, her religious order, and the Convocation against Werth Plouth, the Herald of the Path of the Open Hand cult, when he requested the Convocation be dissolved. After his request was denied, Plouth ignited a riot, marking the onset of the Battle of Jedha, in which Florent became embroiled.
During 382 BBY, Elris Florent held the position of representative for the Disciples of the Whills religion within the Convocation of the Force. This council, comprised of various religious factions linked to the Force, operated on the revered moon of Jedha. When the Yacombe organization dispatched an envoy to seek membership in the Convocation, Florent was present at the Convocation Chambers. Throughout the application process, Florent maintained a composed demeanor, willing to consider all viewpoints. However, Sirené, the representative of the Fallanassi religion, launched an assault on the envoy, prompting Susalee, the representative of the Lonto species, to intervene and halt the violence. Consequently, Florent urged Kilan T'Dara, the chair of the Convocation, to step in and restrain Sirené. T'Dara complied, but the chair's appeal for the Fallanassi to cease their actions proved unsuccessful.

Florent then engaged in conversation with Waran Val, the representative of the Matukai religious group, who was also provoking the envoy. She reminded Val that the Yacombe communicated solely through proxies, a fact Val should have been aware of. Val then expressed his surprise that Florent and the Disciples of the Whills, of all the representatives, would support the Yacombe. Florent responded by stating that she believed the Convocation should at least consider the Yacombe's application. After Oliviah Zeveron, a Jedi Knight, stepped in to defend the Yacombe envoy, they managed to quell the attackers and prevent further violence. As a result of the incident, the Yacombe envoy withdrew their application and departed.
Later, a Convocation meeting was convened to discuss the bombing of the Temple of the Kyber, attended by Vildar Mac, a Jedi Knight, and Matthea Cathley, a Jedi Padawan. When Mac suggested that the Guardians of the Whills, the temple's protectors, might have prematurely accused Tey Sirrek, a thief, due to his past interactions with the organization, Florent asserted that the Guardians, with whom she collaborated closely, did not make assumptions and that their Captain, Oklane Viss, was personally overseeing the situation. Despite Cathley's persistent objections, T'Dara revealed that the official explanation the Convocation would present was that a buildup of gas had triggered the explosion.
When Werth Plouth, the Herald of the Path of the Open Hand, a cult that condemned the use of the Force, petitioned the Convocation to disband and accused them of abusing the Force, Florent denounced Plouth as arrogant and dismissed his claims as absurd. In response, Plouth questioned whether their robes were crimson to conceal the blood on their hands. Feeling offended, Florent informed Representative T'Dara that she refused to be addressed in such a manner and began to assert the legitimacy of the Disciples of the Whills before T'Dara interrupted her, affirming that they were all aware that the Disciples were among the oldest and most respected orders on Jedha.

After Plouth exited the Convocation Chambers into the Square of the Supplicants and attempted to incite a crowd against the Convocation and the Jedi, Florent and T'Dara, along with Tarna Miak, the representative of the Sorcerers of Tund Force group, followed him outside to confront him. However, Plouth successfully instigated a riot, trapping Florent and involving many Convocation members. During the riot, which escalated into the Battle of Jedha, Florent was part of a group knocked down by members of the Brotherhood of the Beatific Countenance. Subsequently, Florent became one of many attacked by Susalee, who had been psychologically affected by the Leveler, a Nameless creature employed by the Path that preyed on Force-sensitives and induced hallucinations.
Elris Florent possessed brown eyes and light skin, standing at a height of 1.73 meters (5 feet, 8 inches). During the Yacombe's membership application, she displayed composure and a willingness to consider all perspectives. She held a strong belief in the Guardians of the Whills, with whom she collaborated closely, and defended their integrity to Vildar Mac. Florent also took pride in the Disciples of the Whills and their history, disliking any disrespect directed towards her, as demonstrated by Werth Plouth's actions. She practiced meditation to discern the will of the Force, leading her and the other Disciples of the Whills to believe that the dark side of the Force should not be rejected but rather maintained in equilibrium with the light side.
Elris Florent made her debut in the comic story "Peace and Unity," penned by Cavan Scott and illustrated by Andrea Broccardo.
