The Sorcerers of Tund were a group aligned with the light side of the Force, originating from the planet of Tund. Those members who turned to the dark side of the Force were branded as apostates and subsequently banished. Relics connected to the dark side practices of these Sorcerers of Tund were kept within the Archive of Forbidden Artifacts, a restricted area inside the Jedi Temple Archives located on Coruscant.

Around the year 433 BBY, a renegade Sorcerer of Tund who had embraced the dark side of the Force launched an assault on a village situated on Kiffex, the home of the future Jedi Master Vildar Mac. Later, by 382 BBY, the Sorcerers were among the various Force religions that held representation within the Convocation of the Force based on the moon Jedha, alongside groups such as the Jedi Order and the Guardians of the Whills. Their representative was Adept Tarna Miak. Upon Mac's arrival on Jedha, he was dismayed at the sight of a Sorcerer of Tund, due to his past experiences, and confronted the adept, only to be informed by Padawan Matthea Cathley that he was addressing a convocation representative.
In 88 BBY, Jedi Initiates Dooku and Sifo-Dyas secretly entered the Bogan Collection and discovered numerous artifacts, including at least one originating from the Sorcerers of Tund, prompting Sifo-Dyas to ponder the origins of these items.
The Sorcerers of Tund were initially referenced within the new Star Wars canon in the sourcebook Disciples of Harmony, authored by John Dunn and James M. Spahn. This book was published by Fantasy Flight Games for their Star Wars: Force and Destiny roleplaying game in 2017. An entry titled "The Bogan Collection," featured in the Star Wars Inside Intel series on StarWars.com on November 9, 2021, mistakenly referred to the group as "Sorcerers of Tunds." Within the Star Wars Legends timeline, the Sorcerers of Tund made their debut in the novel Lando Calrissian and the Mindharp of Sharu, the opening installment of the Star Wars: The Lando Calrissian Adventures series penned by L. Neil Smith and released in 1983. The first visual depiction of the Sorcerers of Tund appeared later in Jedi vs. Sith: The Essential Guide to the Force, a reference work written by Ryder Windham and published in 2007.
