A chairman, alternatively called a chairperson, was a person who would lead a meeting or gathering. During the conflict known as the Clone Wars, San Hill held the position of chairman for the InterGalactic Banking Clan. The Pantoran Assembly, which was the governing council of elected representatives for Pantora, was led by a figure known as the Supreme Chairman. During the final decades of the Galactic Republic, Chi Cho occupied the position of Supreme Chairman of the Pantoran Assembly until his died, at which point Baron Notluwiski Papanoida took over.
Near the end of the Clone Wars, Supreme Chancellor Palpatine told Jedi General Anakin Skywalker that General Grievous, the leader of the Separatist Alliance, was located on the planet Utapau. This information came from a fragment of a message within a diplomatic dispatch from the Chairman of Utapau, which Skywalker then communicated to the Jedi High Council. During the Galactic Civil War, Pitina Voor acted as the Chair of the Galactic Empire's Coalition for Progress.
