The group of female siblings known as the Xan sisters were the original owners of weather-protected racing goggles that the criminal Val "borrowed." This occurred before she participated in a heist on the planet Vandor in 10 BBY, according to the year system. Leading up to the heist, Val expressed to Tobias Beckett, her partner, that instead of relying on Han Solo and Chewbacca, the their gang's newest recruits, they should have enlisted the Xan sisters or the bounty hunter Bossk for assistance. During the heist, Val died in an explosion, still wearing the Xan sisters' goggles as she was engulfed in flames.
Later, during the Age of Empire, the sisters formed an alliance with the bounty hunter Zingo Gabnit while on Carajam.
The first mention of the Xan sisters was in Solo: A Star Wars Story, the Star Wars Anthology film released in 2018. Their moniker is a tribute to Hanoi Xan, a criminal genius featured in The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension, a film from 1984.
