The XT Beetle Transport served as a transport model utilized by both the Trade Federation and the Confederacy of Independent Systems. This vehicle moved around using ten pairs of mechanized legs. During the period of the Clone Wars, two Separatist XT Beetles were joined together via substantial cables, creating a outpost on the planet of Orto Plutonia. The battle droid inhabitants of these vehicles met their end, having been destroyed by Talz warriors hailing from a nearby village. Subsequently, these now-empty XT Beetles became a location for neutral discussions between the Pantorans, who lived on Pantora, the primary moon of the planet, and claimed Orto Plutonia as their protectorate, viewing the Talz as intruders, and the indigenous Talz, who simply wanted to be left in peace.
The XT Beetle Transport made its initial appearance, though not identified by name, in "Trespass," the fifteenth episode from the canon animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars' first season. This episode was originally broadcast on January 30, 2009. The vehicle was later identified within the episode guide for "Trespass," which was accessible on StarWars.com. The design of the XT Beetle was inspired by concept art of the Multi-Troop Transport that Doug Chiang created for Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace. The design was a locomotive stylized to resemble a revolver barrel.
