Xyloxan

The Xyloxan was a musical instrument characterized by its use of tone bars, which could be constructed from bodhar bones. Approximately three decades following the Battle of Endor, the musician Ubert Quaril played a xyloxan at the castle of the pirate Maz Kanata on the planet Takodana. These events occurred around thirty years after the Battle of Endor.

Behind the scenes

The xyloxan made its initial appearance as a physical prop in the 2015 film Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens. While the film didn't name it, its identification came via the reference book Star Wars: The Force Awakens: The Visual Dictionary by Pablo Hidalgo, which was published the day following the movie's release.
