Yael

Yael was a Cathar of the female gender who made her home on Ord Mantell. Her life unfolded during the era known as the Cold War, a period of tension between the Galactic Republic and the opposing Sith Empire.

Biography

Living as a Cathar on Ord Mantell, Yael resided in the Talloran village during the time of the Great Galactic War. However, as the Cold War progressed, the Mantellian Separatist Movement initiated a civil war, seeking to break away from the Republic. Separatist forces then invaded Yael's village, Talloran. The separatists drove the settlers from their homes, causing destruction to many buildings, and forcing them to seek refuge in the nearby Fort Garnik.

The displaced settlers established a camp outside the Republic base. However, their limited resources compelled Yael to resort to stealing medical provisions from the Republic. Capitalizing on a moment when one of Sergeant Hurd's soldiers fell asleep while guarding a recent medical shipment for Garnik, Yael seized the opportunity to steal the supplies and escape back to the settler's camp. Unfortunately, a group of separatists intercepted her and stole the shipment before she could distribute it. When Hurd tasked a Republic agent with investigating the missing supplies, the agent, based on the guard's description of a female Cathar, tracked the theft back to Yael.

Yael then compelled the agent to retrieve the stolen supplies for her, promising to reveal the separatists' location in return. She disclosed that the separatists had retreated to Talloran, prompting the agent to journey to the village and recover the medicine from them. The agent then returned to Yael, delivering the supplies, which enabled her to provide treatment to the injured and sick settlers, including Ryso, a young human child who had sought Yael's assistance prior to the agent's arrival.

Behind the scenes

Yael makes an appearance in the BioWare MMORPG Star Wars: The Old Republic within the "Mercy" mission on Ord Mantell. She coerces the player character into recovering the supplies for her, presenting the player with a choice to either accept her proposition (light side) or refuse and threaten Ryso's life (dark side). Following the player's retrieval of the supplies, they are also given the option to return them to either Hurd or Yael.
