Yirt-4138-Grek-12

Yirt-4138-Grek-12, a Colonies asteroid, existed within the Fakir sector. A pressurized compound was situated there, serving as a base where slicers received cybernetic enhancements and training in industrial espionage against the Corporate Alliance. After Alliance expeditors tracked the surgery and training of a data thief, specifically one, back to this compound, the Alliance dispatched NR-N99 Persuader-class droid enforcers to the celestial body. These droid tanks proceeded to obliterate the facility, killing the twenty-five slicers who were present at that time.

Description

Within the Fakir sector of the Colonies', in the remote Yirt-4138-Grek-12 system, was the asteroid designated Yirt-4138-Grek-12. This airless rock measured sixty-five kilometers across and its designation incorporated the Aurebesh letters yirt and grek.

History

A compound was located on Yirt-4138-Grek-12, which itself was located in Corporate Alliance space. This facility, purportedly financed by pirates, served as a training center and augmentation site for data thieves, equipping them with cybernetic implants and training them as industrial spies aimed at the Corporate Alliance. Following the arrest of Alliance clerk Denlace Sachoore for data embezzlement, Alliance expeditors traced her surgery and training to this slicer compound.

The Corporate Alliance used NR-N99 Persuader-class droid enforcers (pictured) to destroy a slicer compound on Yirt-4138-Grek-12.

Subsequently, Corporate Alliance transports delivered NR-N99 Persuader-class droid enforcers to a location ten kilometers from the compound. The tank droids then advanced across the terrain towards the facility, opening fire without warning or attempting to capture prisoners. They used missiles and laser fire to penetrate the compound's pressurized environment and ultimately demolish the structure, killing twenty-five slicers who were present at that time.

On 13:3:21, the date, the raid targeting the Yirt-4138-Grek-12 compound was reported by the Fakir Sector Node on the HoloNet in the CoCo District Edition of HoloNet News. The report featured a statement from Senator Gopple of the Galactic Republic. While Senator Gopple condemned the Corporate Alliance's raid as excessive, he acknowledged that the organization's actions were within the bounds of existing legislation due to the asteroid's location within the Alliance's territory and jurisdiction.

Inhabitants

At the time the Yirt-4138-Grek-12 slicer compound was destroyed, twenty-five cyborg data thieves were present.

Locations

Yirt-4138-Grek-12 housed a pressurized slicer compound. It included illicit cybernetic surgery facilities and served as a training center for industrial espionage.

Behind the scenes

The HoloNet News Vol. 531 #48 introduced Yirt-4138-Grek-12. This was a representation of an in-universe edition of the HoloNet News, written by Pablo Hidalgo and Paul Ens, and published on the original HoloNet News website on March 21, 2002. The reference book The Essential Atlas from 2009 located the Yirt-4138-Grek-12 system, and thus the asteroid, in grid square K-9. De Agostini's The Official Star Wars Fact File magazine, in its 118th issue published around March 31, 2004, incorrectly stated that the Corporate Alliance raid occurred at the Fakir Sector Node, not Yirt-4138-Grek-12. This error was repeated in the twenty-sixth issue of the magazine's 2014 re-make edition, released on July 2, 2014.
