The Yuzzem were large, heavily-built, and covered in fur, resembling humanoids with elongated snouts and sizable black eyes. Their homeworld was the heavily forested planet known as Ragna III. Possessing considerable strength and a volatile disposition, they were formidable warriors, and their substantial size made them challenging to subdue. Furthermore, Yuzzem were known for their strict adherence to codes regarding honor and the fulfillment of debts.
Due to their impressive physical power and intellect, numerous scientists speculated that the Yuzzem might be distantly related to the Wookiees.
During the Separatist Crisis that preceded the Clone Wars, at least a pair of Yuzzem served as guards for Bossban Soergg Vosadii Bezhin, an individual deeply connected to the Separatists. Subsequently, the Confederacy of Independent Systems deployed them in combat during the fight on Aargonar. The Galactic Empire subjected the Yuzzem to enslavement, mirroring their treatment of the Wookiees, and utilized them for demanding manual labor such as mining. However, owing to their considerable strength and irascible nature, the Imperials encountered difficulties in effectively managing them as slaves. Additionally, the species was known to suffer from prolonged hangovers because of their large size.
While on Mimban in pursuit of the Kaiburr crystal, Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia Organa received assistance from two Yuzzem named Hin and Kee. Tragically, both were killed by Darth Vader.
In the year 44 ABY, a Yuzzem Jedi Master named Barratk'l became a member of the Jedi High Council.
