Hin was a member of the Yuzzem species and served as a companion to another Yuzzem named Kee.
Like many other Yuzzem individuals, Hin and Kee were subjected to enslavement as a result of the Humanocentric policies enacted by the Galactic Empire. They were forced to labor on the jungle world of Mimban, where the Empire conducted mining operations, due to their exceptional physical power. When they voiced their objections, the mining supervisor responded by brandishing documents and ridiculing them. Consequently, the two disgruntled Yuzzem decided to utilize their equipment to fill in the mine instead of extracting resources.
However, Captain-Supervisor Grammel chose not to execute them, as a typical Yuzzem could perform three times the work of an average Human miner, and both Yuzzem were heavily intoxicated. The species was known for experiencing extended hangovers due to their considerable size. As a result, both Yuzzem were confined to a high-security holding cell due to their immense strength.
By chance, Rebel operatives Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa were placed in the same cell due to overcrowding in the prison. During this period, the Rebels established a friendly relationship with Hin and Kee. When Grammel arrived at the cell to interrogate Luke and Leia, who had claimed to be escaped criminals from the nearby Circarpous IV system, Kee seized Grammel by the neck and was subsequently shot by a stormtrooper. However, Kee quickly recovered due to his unique physiology.

Later, Halla (who had previously befriended Luke and Leia) liberated the prisoners from their cell by employing the Force to propel a food tray at the photoplate in the corridor, which triggered the opening of the cell doors. Thanks to the remarkable strength of the two Yuzzem, the inmates and Halla successfully escaped from the base. They were then joined by the renowned droids R2-D2 and C-3PO, and they fled into the surrounding jungle aboard a commandeered military Swamp crawler.
Alongside their newfound allies, Hin and Kee endured encounters with a massive Wandrella, a tribe of territorial Coway, and Imperial stormtroopers dispatched to pursue them. Tragically, they were killed while defending the swamp speeder against the Dark Lord of the Sith Darth Vader at the Temple of Pomojema. When Luke's leg became trapped beneath a large rock, Hin mustered all his remaining strength to free him. He succumbed to his severe injuries shortly thereafter.
