Z6 riot control baton

The Z6 riot control baton, often shortened to simply the Z6 baton, served as a baton utilized by First Order riot control stormtroopers throughout the Cold War period.

Description

Functioning as a non-lethal melee weapon, the Z6 baton featured a central handle that led to two contact conductor vanes designed to withstand the plasma energy of a lightsaber. When activated, these retractable vanes emitted electric currents, delivering a stunning shock upon contact. The weapon incorporated an adhesion grip which could be magnetically linked to the gloves worn by First Order stormtroopers. The magnetic adhesion allowed for baton spinning techniques in combat.

History

FN-2199 "Nines" wielded a Z6 baton during the Battle of Takodana

As part of their riot-control strategies, First Order riot control stormtroopers were instructed to use non-lethal equipment, including the Z6 baton, frequently paired with a lightweight composite betaplast ballistic riot shield. Captain Cardinal, a significant figure in the First Order's training structure, was instructing recruits in the baton's use on a Resurgent-class Star Destroyer when he received news of his impending replacement by Phasma. After uncovering Phasma's past, Cardinal challenged her to a duel in a simulation room aboard the Absolution, where they both fought with Z6 batons.

During the battle on Takodana, the Z6 was deployed by FN-2199, a trooper belonging to the FN Corps, against FN-2187, who had defected. Nines assaulted Finn using his baton, striking the traitor's lightsaber repeatedly until Han Solo shot him with a Wookiee bowcaster.

Finn used this weapon on Snoke's ship during his confrontation with Captain Phasma. He defeated his adversary with the weapon, rendering her helpless just long enough for the deck beneath her to give way.

RS-2112, a stormtrooper from the 709th Legion, employed this baton to strike Wooro upon the orders of his commanding officer's, in order to coerce Kendoh Voss into cooperating with their demands during their capture.
