Unidentified First Order stormtrooper sergeant

A male human functioned as a sergeant stormtrooper within the military of the First Order, fulfilling the role of an officer in the distinguished 709th Legion. During 34 ABY, amidst the First Order-Resistance conflict, the sergeant and his legion of stormtroopers were sent to Black Spire Outpost located on the planet Batuu with the mission of eradicating any Resistance presence. Subsequently, he visited Dok-Ondar's Den of Antiquities and discovered a lightsaber said to have belonged to the deceased Jedi Master Ki-Adi-Mundi. Neither the stormtrooper sergeant nor the shopkeeper, Dok-Ondar, realized they were being observed by the criminal group known as the Kendoh Gang, headed by Kendoh Voss, through a cam droid.

The sergeant subsequently departed Batuu to meet with Lieutenant Agnon of the First Order. However, he was compelled to return without delay after his stormtroopers requested backup against suspected Resistance operatives. Upon arriving, the sergeant killed the two individuals believed to be agents. However, he later determined that they were not actually affiliated with the Resistance, resulting in a reprimand for his troopers. Following this, he received an urgent communication regarding three individuals with death marks issued by the First Order being sighted near the spaceport of Black Spire Outpost, prompting the sergeant and his squad to head to the spaceport.

Ultimately, the sergeant cornered the Kendoh Gang within Dok-Ondar's establishment and promptly instructed one of his stormtroopers to strike Voss's Aqualish associate, Wooro, as a means of intimidating Voss. This action triggered a clash between the gang and the stormtroopers, but the criminals managed to escape from Ondar's shop.

Biography

Over Black Spire Outpost

The sergeant and Lieutenant Agnon discussing Resistance activity from the assault shuttle

The sergeant served as a stormtrooper in the military regime of the First Order. He was a male human officer in the elite 709th Legion of the First Order military, also known as the "Red Fury." As a result of a deep scar on the left side of his face, he had a prosthetic left eye.

In 34 ABY, the sergeant was aboard a First Order assault shuttle flying above Black Spire Outpost on the planet Batuu in the Outer Rim. Looking down at the people at Black Spire Outpost, he called them "Batuuan Rats," believing that members of the Resistance, a paramilitary force at war with the First Order, were hiding on the planet and that the 709th Legion's task was to eliminate them. He said he was willing to burn all of Batuu to find the Resistance members. Lieutenant Agnon of the First Order, standing next to him, said he would accept nothing less from the stormtrooper and that Batuu would never be the same after the First Order was done with it.

Paying Dok-Ondar a visit

The sergeant later visited the antiquities store of Ithorian collector Dok-Ondar. During their meeting, he studied and ignited the lightsaber used by the late Cerean Jedi Master Ki-Adi-Mundi. He took off his helmet and asked Ondar if he was the Jedi with the pointed head, trying to remember who Mundi was. The sergeant told Ondar that he was more concerned with the future and had never paid much attention to history. He activated the blue-bladed lightsaber and asked Ondar if he believed in the future. When Ondar responded in Ithorese, the native language of the Ithorian people, the sergeant became angry because he didn't understand the language. Tohago, Ondar's human translator, translated the Ithorese into the standard Basic language of the galaxy for the sergeant.

Tohago informed the sergeant that Ondar had stated he was just a humble store owner with only respect for the First Order and that he didn't need to threaten him. The sergeant didn't believe Ondar, saying that his store was famous across the galaxy for its ancient relics. He put the weapon down after deactivating the lightsaber, telling Ondar that his store was the perfect place for Resistance spies. A recording video droid secretly recorded the conversation as the sergeant continued to lecture Ondar about the future. Remex Io, the Clawdite from the Kendoh Gang, placed the droid there and was monitoring it with his partners in crime, Kendoh Voss and the Aqualish Wooro, from their starship. Io changed his form into the sergeant to move the gang's heist of Ondar's store forward.

The sergeant put his helmet back on and warned Ondar that it was his duty to report any Resistance activity to the First Order, or the Order would reclassify his relics as contraband to be taken and destroyed. Ondar understood that the sergeant didn't appreciate the past but told him the story of how he got Mundi's lightsaber.

After the story, the sergeant was angry that Ondar wasted his time. Ondar told him to look closer at the lightsaber and said that it had survived the falls of the old Galactic Republic and its successor, the Galactic Empire, and that it would survive the First Order as well. He also said that the sergeant's grip on Black Spire Outpost was weak and asked him not to threaten him in his store again. Before the sergeant could respond, one of his stormtroopers reported a disturbance in the market that might be related to the Resistance. The sergeant sarcastically wished Ondar a good day and said he would see him again soon.

To the rescue

The stormtrooper sergeant later attended a briefing from Lieutenant Agnon above Batuu but was called back to the planet when two suspected Resistance operatives attacked a group of stormtroopers. He took an assault shuttle to the surface of the planet and joined the firefight on a 125-Z treadspeeder bike, but he was not impressed that the stormtroopers could not handle the two operatives. The sergeant drove at the operatives on his speeder bike, quickly shooting them both to death. He then realized that the incursion was useless because the operatives were not members of the Resistance. The sergeant then received a message that the First Order had received a tip that three fugitives with death marks from General Armitage Hux were near the spaceport, so he ordered his troopers to move out while a Resistance operative fled the scene unnoticed.

Shortly after, Kendoh Voss, the bounty hunter, and her gang confronted Dok Ondar at his antique store to begin their heist. Before they could start, Io reported an emergency and told her that the sergeant and the Red Fury had tracked them down and were just outside the store, ready to confront them.

Final confrontation

The sergeant and his stormtroopers entered Ondar's store and reminded him of the consequences he would face for associating with people like Voss. He then turned to Voss and went over her past heists, flattering her. Ondar told her not to antagonize the sergeant, but the sergeant instead became angry at Ondar for speaking in Ithorese. To show Voss how serious the situation was, he ordered one of his stormtroopers, RS-2112, to hit Wooro with a Z6 riot control baton. The stormtrooper did as he was told, and the Aqualish was knocked back. Voss started to threaten the sergeant, who interrupted her and pointed out her loyalty to her crew. He told her to stand down because he was only keeping the two alive for answers.

The sergeant told them about the First Order's goal of conquering the galaxy and destroying the Resistance and warned them that the First Order would do anything to find the Resistance operatives. The stormtrooper sergeant was also suspicious of the Kendoh Gang's arrival to Batuu and suggested that they might be affiliated with the Resistance. Voss made another sarcastic comment at the sergeant, saying that her crew were the professionals. In response, he hit Voss with the end of his blaster, causing her mouth to bleed.

Voss was pinned down by the Red Fury.

After Ondar told Voss another story about his past, the sergeant asked Voss why she was on Batuu. She told him about the heist and admitted that it had gone wrong but that she would improvise. She then jumped across the store and grabbed the box containing the hilt of the Sword of Khashyun, an ancient Sith artifact, as the sergeant ordered his soldiers to shoot them down. Voss grabbed Ki-Adi-Mundi's lightsaber as the sergeant and the stormtroopers surrounded her. The sergeant thought that Voss didn't stand a chance against them, but she then activated the lightsaber and freed Simpi, Ondar's juvenile sarlacc, who attacked the stormtroopers, killing one of them and causing the sergeant to order his troops to retreat. He chased Voss out of the store, but he and another trooper lost her in the crowd, so he ordered a perimeter to be set up around the area.
