A male Clawdite named Remex Io was employed by the Kendoh Gang, which was under the leadership of Kendoh Voss. During the age of the New Republic Era, he collaborated with Voss and Wooro in a scheme that targeted the planet of Batuu.
In his youth, Io successfully executed a robbery. By the year 34 ABY, he had become a member of Kendoh Voss's crew. While at the Wayward Comet refueling station, Io, disguised as a woman, was intentionally bumped into by Finn, a known member of the Resistance. He then relayed his encounter with Finn to Kendoh. Kendoh instructed Remex to tail Finn to the ship he shared with Commander Poe Dameron and place a tracking device on it. Io, along with the other members of Voss' crew, followed Finn, Dameron, and their team to Base 354-23X, situated on the Moon of Avedot. Once there, Io murdered Tonkins, assumed his identity, and initiated an attack on Finn and the other Resistance operatives.
Subsequently, Io and the crew forcibly breached one of the base's entrances. Upon entering, Finn surprised Io. Io engaged Finn in combat, morphing into the forms of both a Lasat and a Wookiee. However, he was incapacitated by Wooro using a stun weapon. After regaining consciousness, he learned of Dameron's presence and the larger bounty associated with him. Nevertheless, Basso Mak was killed and Dameron and Finn managed to escape.
Io journeyed to the Black Spire Outpost on Batuu. He observed a First Order TIE/es assault shuttle landing at the outpost. Taking a roundabout route to avoid detection by the stormtroopers of the First Order's 709th Legion, Io rendezvoused with Voss and Wooro. Disguised as a human, Io accompanied Voss and Wooro to a meeting with Dok-Ondar at his Den of Antiquities. He and his fellow crew members listened as Dok-Ondar recounted the tale of how Captain Han Solo and his First Mate Chewbacca had gifted him a sarlacc. During this interaction, Io discreetly placed a video droid within the shop without Dok-Ondar's knowledge. Following their meeting with Dok-Ondar, Io departed with his crew after Voss provided Dok-Ondar with their offering.
Aboard their ship, Io and his associates eavesdropped as Dok-Ondar narrated to a First Order stormtrooper sergeant the story of how he came to possess Jedi Master Ki-Adi-Mundi's lightsaber. After the stormtroopers had left, Io and the crew discovered that Dok-Ondar possessed a Sith relic. Voss and her crew then decided to steal it the following night.
Later on, Io was identified by the First Order and pursued by stormtroopers. After exchanging fire and fleeing, Io altered his appearance to blend in, feigning assistance to the First Order by directing them towards the spaceport. As he was departing, Varg, Dok-Ondar's Clawdite enforcer, ambushed him, seizing him by the throat and revealing his awareness of their plot against Dok-Ondar. He then subdued Io and assumed his form in order to meet Voss at Oga's Cantina later. There, he told her that they had been discovered and needed to flee Batuu, but Voss confidently said that she had their plan figured out.
Remex Io made his initial appearance in Galaxy's Edge 1, a comic authored by Ethan Sacks, illustrated by Will Sliney, and released on April 24, 2019. While Io's surname was absent in the first comic, it was visually represented in Aurebesh on a wanted poster within the background of one of the panels. His surname was later spoken for the first time by a First Order stormtrooper in Galaxy's Edge 3.
