Plot summary

Encountering Dok-Ondar

Simpi in a tank.

While traversing the streets of Black Spire Outpost, Remex Io, a bounty hunter, purchases some meiloorun juice from the droid 8D-J8. A young individual attempts, unsuccessfully, to pilfer food from the Clawdite. Remex cautions the youth that his thieving ineptitude will lead to starvation. Simultaneously, a First Order shuttle appears overhead. Within the shuttle, a First Order stormtrooper sergeant informs lieutenant Agnon of the presence of Resistance insurgents hiding on Batuu, vowing to "smoke them out."

Returning to Black Spire Outpost, Remex Io assumes the form of a human and reunites with the rest of his gang. Kendoh Voss reminds Remex of the importance of not missing their meeting with Dok-Ondar. Upon the gang's arrival at Dok-Ondar's Den of Antiquities, Dok-Ondar expresses his displeasure with their tardiness, stating he does not want his time wasted. Kendoh proceeds to praise Ondar's collection as the greatest assortment of "rare relics in the known galaxy." Meanwhile, Wooro, another member of the gang, taps on a container that illuminates, revealing a sarlacc named Simpi inside. Kendoh's gang becomes anxious, but the composed Dok-Ondar remarks on the sarlacc's beauty and begins recounting the story of its acquisition by a smuggler he had hired.

A smuggler's mission

Han Solo, accompanied by his Wookiee co-pilot, Chewbacca, arrives on I'vorcia Prime to procure a juvenile sarlacc for Dok-Ondar. Han lands the Millennium Falcon in the I'vorcia Prime Preserve and is scheduled to meet Doctor Genzhor, the galaxy's foremost expert on sarlaccs. Instead, Solo is greeted by Genzhor's assistant, Ooris, who escorts Han to the sarlacc pits. During their journey to the pits, Ooris discusses a battle that occurred on the planet, during which the Galactic Empire devastated the planet's ecosystem. It was subsequently transformed into a nature reserve where Imperial officers engage in hunting the planet's exotic fauna. Upon reaching the sarlacc pits, Han Solo expresses his lack of enthusiasm for their appearance, at which point Ooris betrays Han by pushing him into the pits, while the Dowutin workers attempt to stun Chewbacca and force him into the pits as well. Han lands near a pit and opens fire on Ooris. Ooris reveals his intention to seize Han's ship and its codes to escape the planet with enough frozen sarlacc spores to amass wealth. Subsequently, one of the workers falls into the pits with Han and is consumed by a baby sarlacc. Another baby sarlacc emerges from the ground to attack the smuggler, but Han uses a stun stick to subdue it.

Ooris dangling from the Millennium Falcon

Back on the deck, Chewbacca succeeds in throwing a Dowutin into a sarlacc pit, narrowly avoiding being thrown in himself. Chewbacca is then attacked by a Dowutin worker, but he evades some of his blaster fire and eliminates the worker with his bowcaster. Han instructs Chewbacca to reclaim the Falcon from Ooris while he fends off two baby sarlaccs at the edge of a cliff. Han evades one of the sarlaccs, causing it to plummet to its death, but before the other can attack Solo, Chewbacca arrives in the Millennium Falcon to rescue him, with a screaming Ooris dangling from the ship.

Returning to Dok-Ondar's Den of Antiquities, Han and Chewbacca deliver the sarlacc to Dok-Ondar. Ondar is hesitant to compensate the Corellian smuggler and his Wookiee partner more than the value of a single sarlacc, but Han assures him that they only found one sarlacc.

Present events on Batuu

Back on Batuu, Kendoh Voss informs Dok-Ondar that they seek something more unique and presents a tablet to the Ithorian. Still in disguise, Remex Io places a concealed cam droid on a table before Dok-Ondar dismisses them. As they depart from the antique shop, Kendoh Voss declares that Ondar has taken the bait. Back at Dok-Ondar's Den of Antiquities, Dok-Ondar's assistant Tohago expresses surprise at the reappearance of a mysterious weapon that was presumed lost, to which Dok-Ondar replies that they must prevent the weapon from falling into the wrong hands.
