Ooris functioned as a humanoid aide to Doctor Genzhor, an expert in the study of sarlaccs, during Genzhor's time on the planet I'vorcia Prime within the Imperial Era. However, Ooris betrayed the doctor, which led to Genzhor's death. Around the time of 5 BBY, after the arrival of smugglers Han Solo and Chewbacca on the planet, who were sent by their employer, Dok-Ondar, to acquire several sarlaccs from Genzhor, Ooris greeted them and escorted them to the doctor's research outpost.
Soon after, Ooris turned against the smugglers, with the intention of using their ship, the Millennium Falcon, to flee the planet and gain riches from the frozen spores they had stolen from the doctor. Nevertheless, their scheme was unsuccessful, as Chewbacca prevented the thief from taking the freighter and used them as live bait to capture an infant sarlacc.
Ooris served as an aide to Doctor Genzhor, the leading expert in the galaxy on the subject of sarlaccs, while the doctor was researching a group of these creatures—consisting of two adolescent sarlaccs and two infants—at a research outpost located on the Outer Rim planet of I'vorcia Prime. At some point during the Imperial Era, Ooris betrayed the doctor, which resulted in Genzhor's death. Approximately around 5 BBY, the smugglers Han Solo and Chewbacca, the Wookiee, arrived on the planet as part of a job for the Ithorian collector Dok-Ondar, who had tasked them with obtaining sarlaccs from Genzhor. Ooris greeted them and guided them to Genzhor's outpost. During the journey, Ooris explained that the evident damage to the local ecosystem was a consequence of the Battle of I'vorcia Prime and that the area had become a preserve used by Imperial officers as a hunting ground.

Upon reaching the edge of the pit where the outpost was situated, Ooris, along with several Dowutins working at the outpost, betrayed the smugglers by pushing Solo into the pit. They then revealed their plan to use the smugglers' freighter, the Millennium Falcon, and the codes provided by Dok-Ondar to evade the planet's quarantine blockade with frozen sarlacc spores they had stolen from the base, with the intention of selling them for a substantial amount of wealth. However, the smugglers thwarted Ooris's scheme, with Chewbacca discovering Ooris aboard the Millennium Falcon. The Wookiee suspended Ooris from the underbelly of the ship as bait to lure an infant sarlacc, which soon consumed them as Chewbacca rescued Solo from the edge of a cliff.
During the First Order's occupation of the planet Batuu, Dok-Ondar recounted the events that transpired on I'vorcia Prime, including Ooris's treachery and demise, to the Kendoh Gang while they were attempting to negotiate a deal with the shopkeeper.

Ooris was prepared to betray an employer and murder Han Solo and Chewbacca to accumulate wealth, displaying no regret for such actions. They also professed admiration for Solo, although they mistakenly stated that Solo's famous Kessel Run was completed in fourteen parsecs instead of twelve. They were adept at maintaining a polite exterior upon meeting the smugglers, which led them to be unsuspectingly lured into their trap.
The thief also displayed no indications of grief when their Dowutin co-conspirators met their end at the hands of the smugglers. They were even relieved at the prospect of having to divide less of the reward when one of the Dowutins was killed. Upon boarding the Millennium Falcon, Ooris displayed a lack of familiarity with the ship's controls.
They were a bipedal humanoid characterized by green skin, blue hair styled slicked back, and black eyes.
Ooris made an appearance in a flashback scene within the comic book Galaxy's Edge 1, which was authored by Ethan Sacks, illustrated by Will Sliney, and published by Marvel Comics on April 24, 2019.
