Zohra

Zohra, a female individual, hailed from Devalok. During the Siege of Devalok, she and Dumuz, her younger sibling, spent a total of five days concealed within their family's residence, attempting to evade capture by the Separatist Droid Army after her parents ventured out to the Enki greenhouse to procure essential provisions. When battle droids began to bombard their dwelling in a search operation for any surviving inhabitants, both Zohra and Dumuz were taken as prisoners. Just before the droids could execute the two children, they were saved from certain doom by Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi along with his Padawan, Anakin Skywalker. Subsequently, Zohra played a crucial role in assisting the Jedi by guiding them through her city to facilitate the evacuation process.

Biography

Zohra's origins trace back to the planet of Devalok, widely recognized for its magnificent gardens. Throughout her formative years, she dedicated a significant amount of her time at the Enki greenhouse, where her mother held the esteemed position of head gardener. She enjoyed leisurely strolls amidst the diverse array of flora, engaging in playful pursuits of asabs within the ethereal mist gardens, and indulging in delightful picnics beneath the shade of huluppu trees. Similar to other children residing in her neighborhood, she found immense pleasure in splashing around the ancient fountain situated at the heart of the community, often climbing its statues.

On one occasion, specifically during the Blossom Festival, Zohra chose to dress up as Uma Kalidi, a celebrated Jedi figure originating from Devalok. While numerous other younglings also chose to portray Kalidi, Zohra's father went the extra mile by crafting a custom-made toy lightsaber specifically for her. Despite the fact that it emitted a green hue instead of the traditional blue, this unique accessory significantly distinguished her costume from the multitude of others participating in the parade. Like many children who held the Jedi in high regard, she made numerous unsuccessful attempts to harness the Force.

During the era of the Clone Wars, Devalok faced an invasion by the forces of the Confederacy of Independent Systems and their droid army, even though the planet possessed little strategic significance. As the lush gardens of the planet were engulfed in flames due to Separatist bombardment, many of its inhabitants sought refuge elsewhere. However, Zohra and her family found themselves left behind amidst the chaos. They sought shelter within their apartment for approximately a week, enduring dwindling supplies and witnessing the gradual destruction of their city. Eventually, Zohra's parents made the difficult decision to venture out in search of provisions, braving the dangers of the war zone in the hope of discovering food within the secure vaults of the Enki greenhouse. Zohra was entrusted with the responsibility of caring for her six-year-old younger brother, Dumuz. Despite their parents' usual swift return from supply runs within a few hours, they failed to reappear on that particular day.

Confined within their barricaded apartment, the young siblings maintained a hushed silence, carefully rationing their water supply, and helplessly observing the gradual disintegration and burning of their beloved neighborhood. By the fifth day following their parents' disappearance, Zohra had begun to relinquish any hope of their return or of being rescued by the forces of the Republic. Succumbing to disillusionment, Zohra began to recount the tale of Uma Kalidi to Dumuz. She allowed herself to be momentarily distracted by playing with Dumuz, only to be startled by the ominous sound of approaching battle droids.

Zohra and Dumuz swiftly sought refuge within the cupboard, just moments before the droids forcefully breached their door. Initially, the droids were unable to locate the children, but they soon switched to employing infrared scanning technology. The droids proceeded to forcibly apprehend Zohra and Dumuz, branding them as dangerous rebels.

As the droids prepared to carry out the execution of the young siblings, they were unexpectedly intercepted by Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi and his Padawan, Anakin Skywalker. After ensuring the safety of the children, the two Jedi devised a strategy to escort them to the Amrit spaceport, which remained one of the few Republic strongholds still standing within the city. The Jedi relied heavily on Zohra's intimate knowledge of the surrounding area to effectively plan their route.

During their journey, Zohra grew increasingly weary of her brother's persistent inquiries regarding the safety of their parents, and she ultimately delivered the heartbreaking news that they were almost certainly deceased. However, Dumuz remained steadfast in his belief that their parents were still alive and were calling out for them. Sensing that this might be the Force attempting to communicate through the child, the Jedi decided to alter their course and head towards the Enki greenhouse.

The group eventually reached the ruins of the greenhouse, where the Jedi employed the Force to carve a path leading to the vaults. Finally, they managed to break through and locate the parents just as Separatist forces launched an attack on their position. The Jedi successfully subdued their attackers, and a Republic LAAT swiftly arrived to extract them from the perilous situation.

Following their escape from Devalok, Zohra and her family found themselves aboard a capital ship that had been repurposed into a refugee camp, en route to the planet of Naboo. As they traversed through hyperspace, Zohra regaled Dumuz with a new narrative of the Jedi, one that celebrated the heroic deeds of Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker.

Personality and traits

By the time the Siege of Devalok occurred, Zohra had become quite jaded. In her younger years, she possessed a greater sense of childhood wonder and reveled in the innocence of youth. However, being surrounded by the ravages of war had taken a significant toll on her spirit, particularly after her parents failed to return from their supply run. While her brother, Dumuz, clung to his youthful optimism, maintaining hope and believing in the possibility of being rescued by the Republic, Zohra had come to expect the worst possible outcome. She had resigned herself to the belief that her parents were dead and that their own demise was imminent.

Nevertheless, upon being rescued by Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker, Zohra found herself momentarily captivated by their presence and extraordinary abilities. During their perilous journey through the war-torn landscape, Zohra's pent-up pessimism finally erupted, causing her to lash out at Dumuz for his unwavering insistence that their parents were still alive. Zohra felt that diverting their course to the Enki greenhouse was reckless, and witnessing the devastation of her city only deepened her sorrow.

After the Jedi successfully rescued her parents and repelled the Separatist forces, Zohra was so overwhelmed that Anakin had to prompt her to board the LAAT. Later, once safely aboard the capital ship heading towards Naboo, she began to experience a sense of healing, finding solace in recounting a new tale of Jedi heroism.
