The 301st Infantry served as a component of the Republic Army's Infantry Division throughout the Cold War era, and continued its service into the Galactic War that followed against the reborn Sith Empire. The 301st saw action on the frigid ice planet of Hoth circa 3642 BBY, fighting against both the White Maw pirate group and later, the full might of the Imperial forces when the Sith made their large-scale arrival. A specific group of soldiers, led by Sergeant Fideltin Rusk, was tasked to assist both the Hero of Tython and Leeha Narezz in their endeavor to retrieve the plans for the Sith Emperor's orbital fortress.
