When the New Republic corvette FarStar was attacked in the nearby Galtea system by forces loyal to former Moff Kentor Sarne, the corvette escaped to the binary system, where repairs were carried out on the starship. While in-system, the FarStars crew discovered that the ship's captain, Kaiya Adrimetrum, who had been rendered comatose during the attack, had been covertly poisoned by a saboteur present aboard the ship. The corvette then traveled to the nearby planet Sebiris in order to discover the source of the toxin afflicting Adrimetrum.
The Galtea Binary system was a binary star system located within the Kathol Outback, a region of the Outer Rim Territories' Kathol sector. Lying at several hours' travel distance from the Galtea system, it contained two unstable suns that emitted radiation fields powerful enough to temporarily prevent a starship from being discovered by sensor probing.
When the New Republic corvette FarStar was attacked in the Galtea system by forces loyal to former Imperial Moff Kentor Sarne in 8 ABY, the FarStar managed to escape the battle by plotting a series of micro-jumps through hyperspace that eventually led the corvette to the uncharted binary system.
Since Acting Captain Gorak Khzam and Security Officer Kl'aal agreed that the FarStar would be concealed from enemy sensor scans by the radiation from the twin suns, the corvette remained in-system while repairs were made to the ship. During the stay at the binary system, the FarStars medical staff tended to Kaiya Adrimetrum, the ship's captain. Adrimetrum had been poisoned by the Wraith, Sarne's undercover assassin, during the attack near Galtea and had fallen comatose as a result.
While Adrimetrum remained in her condition, the ship's crew proceeded to investigate evidence that pointed to the captain having been covertly poisoned by a saboteur present aboard.
The former Alliance Intelligence Major Breslin Drake then suggested the corvette investigate the planet Sebiris in the nearby Sebiris system as a possible source for the toxin afflicting Adrimetrum. Acting on Drake's idea, the FarStar left the binary system for Sebiris.
The Galtea Binary system first appeared in "Traitor in our Midst," the sixth roleplaying game adventure in The DarkStryder Campaign, a 1995 West End Games' Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game boxed set. The adventure was written by Eric S. Trautmann and Paul Sudlow. The system went unidentified in its first appearance but was given a proper name by the 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas, which placed it in grid square M-21.
