Scumbo was a Gamorrean guard who worked for the crime lord Jabba Desilijic Tiure in his palace on the planet Tatooine. In 4 ABY, Scumbo brought a GNK power droid and the courier droid Eightyem down to the palace's droid assessment room to be tortured by the supervisor droid EV-9D9.
Scumbo stomped into the room and then ushered the pair of droids in after him, after which EV-9D9 thanked the Gamorrean but misidentified him as his colleague Thug, as she was unable to tell Scumbo, Thug, or their fellow guard Thok apart. Scumbo corrected the droid, but she was uninterested and turned her attention to having the two new arrivals prepped for torture. The next day, a pair of Gamorrean guards delivered the droids R2-D2 and C-3PO to the room, and EV-9D9 was unsure if either of the guards was Scumbo, Thok, or Thug. Jabba and much of his court, including several of his Gamorrean guards, were killed a few days later.
In the current Star Wars canon, Scumbo appeared in a flashback sequence in the short story "The Key to Remembering," which was written by Olivia Chadha and published in the 2023 anthology From a Certain Point of View: Return of the Jedi. The character originated in the Star Wars Legends continuity, where he was mentioned in the second part of Barely Tolerable: Alien Henchmen of the Empire, an article written by Abel G.
