All Terrain Personal Transport

The All Terrain Personal Transport (AT-PT) represents a light infantry walker designed for all types of ground, and it was produced by Rothana Heavy Engineering. This all-terrain vehicle is recognizable because of its two legs that have a triple-jointed design, a single cabin for the pilot, and a pair of blaster cannons positioned beneath the viewport. The AT-PT's design predates the peak of the Clone Wars. This vehicle, along with the All Terrain Tactical Enforcer, influenced the creation of the three-legged All Terrain Attack Pod. The AT-PT shares a similar basic configuration and leg structure with the later All Terrain Reconnaissance Transport. During the Imperial Era, the Imperial Army made use of AT-PTs during the Galactic Civil War, a large-scale galaxy-wide conflict fought between the Galactic Empire and the Rebel Alliance.

Behind the scenes

Within current Star Wars canon, AT-PTs made an appearance in the mobile game Star Wars: Galactic Defense, which initially launched in 2014 and was subsequently discontinued in 2016. These walkers were later formally identified as All Terrain Personal Transports within the "Walkers and Ground Vehicles of the Empire and First Order" booklet from the Star Wars Encyclopedia, released on May 11, 2021.

Within the Star Wars Legends continuity, All Terrain Personal Transports debuted in Dark Force Rising, the second book of Timothy Zahn's Star Wars: The Thrawn Trilogy, which was released on May 1, 1992. The name of these walkers was established in the Dark Force Rising Sourcebook by Bill Slavicsek, a supplement created for Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game.
