Alma (Ord Mantell)
A female Human named Alma served the reconstituted Sith Empire as an operative of Imperial Intelligence. Her role was that of a spy during the era known as the Cold War, a period of tension between the Empire and its rival, the Galactic Republic.
Biography
During the time of the Cold War, Alma, a female Human, was an agent working for Imperial Intelligence within the Sith Empire. As part of her duties, Alma was deployed to the Republic-controlled planet of Ord Mantell, where she operated as a spy. She adopted a covert identity as a resident of Talloran village, gathering intelligence on the nearby Republic installation, Fort Garnik. However, her mission was disrupted by the outbreak of a Civil war on Ord Mantell. The Mantellian Separatist Movement, opposing the Republic-backed corrupt planetary government, seized control of Talloran village, forcing Alma to evacuate.
Alma found herself in a refugee camp situated outside Fort Garnik. In her hasty departure from Talloran, she realized she had left behind a necklace that served as her communication device with Imperial Intelligence.
She enlisted the help of a smuggler known as Ace and a member of Havoc Squad whom she encountered within the camp, tasking them with retrieving the amulet under the guise of it being a cherished heirloom passed down from her great-great-grandmother.
The pair journeyed to Talloran to recover the necklace, but they encountered Ebenga, an operative from the Republic Strategic Information Service. Ebenga, who had been monitoring Alma for months and suspected her of espionage, revealed her true allegiance. He requested that they deliver the amulet to him instead, as he required it to substantiate his suspicions, which they ultimately did. He expressed his gratitude and later apprehended Alma, utilizing the amulet as incriminating evidence against her.
Behind the scenes
Alma is featured as a Non-player character in the massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) Star Wars: The Old Republic, developed by BioWare and launched in 2011. She presents players of the smuggler and Republic trooper classes with an optional questline on their starting planet, Ord Mantell. During this quest, players have the choice to return the recovered amulet to either Ebenga or Alma, with the latter option representing a dark side alignment choice. This article assumes the light side choice was made. Despite her affiliation with the Imperial, players aligned with the Imperial faction are unable to interact with her, as they are currently unable to access Ord Mantell.
