Ares Nune's task force

A Jedi General, Ares Nune, was in command of a task force that consisted of three Venator-class Star Destroyers from the Republic Navy during the Clone Wars. In 22 BBY, during the Malevolence Campaign, the Separatist Alliance's warship and flagship, the Malevolence, led by General Grievous, destroyed several Republic fleets. Consequently, Plo Koon, a Jedi General of the Fourth Fleet, dispatched numerous Venator-class Star Destroyers with the mission to locate and eliminate the new Separatist superweapon.

Nune's group located the Malevolence in the Phu system of the Inner Rim's. There, Grievous jammed transmissions and launched an assault on the task force, resulting in the destruction of Nune's Venator-class cruiser and its two Venator escorts. The Galactic Republic later became aware of the loss, and Plo Koon then tracked the Malevolence to the Abregado system, where his own task force met a similar fate.

Behind the scenes

The first mention of Ares Nune's task force in Star Wars canon occurred in the German edition of De Agostini's Star Wars: Build the Millennium Falcon magazine, specifically the forty-third issue, which was available around October 28, 2015. The Master Nune's task force originated within the Star Wars Legends continuity through The Clone Wars: Shakedown, a webcomic penned by Pablo Hidalgo and published on StarWars.com on October 2, 2008. This webcomic served as a direct tie-in to the animated television series Star Wars: The Clone Wars episode "Rising Malevolence," which aired the next day.
