The Argazdan Redoubt was a state formed by secessionists within the Kanz sector. It was established by Argazdan nationalists, specifically the Myrialites. This state existed solely during the Kanz Disorders, a period of conflict lasting three centuries, from 3970 BBY to 3670 BBY.
The Myrialites were a radical faction of Vianism whose core belief centered around the forceful conversion of others to their deity, Via. Viewing the Galactic Republic as godless and morally bankrupt, the Myrialites, led by Provisional Governor Myrial, initiated an insurrection in the Kanz Sector amid the Old Sith Wars. They broke away from the Republic, founding the independent Argazdan Redoubt. The Redoubt's military forces then proceeded to invade and occupy various planets and systems situated within the Kanz Sector.
When the Lorrdians from Lorrd allied with the Amaltannan resistance in a revolt, the Redoubt subjected the Lorrdians to slavery. Due to being prohibited from verbal communication, the Lorrdians developed an alternative means of expression known as kinetic communication, which involved subtle physical gestures. With both the Old Sith Wars and the Great Galactic War consuming the Republic's attention, neither the Republic nor its ally, the Jedi Order, took action against the Argazdan Redoubt for a period of three centuries.
Around 3970 BBY, Mari-Elan Nora, a Lorrdian Jedi Master, successfully gathered sufficient support within the Galactic Senate to authorize military intervention against the Argazdans. Despite the tenacious resistance put up by the Myrialites under Regent Torphceris, Republic and Jedi forces were ultimately able to liberate the Kanz Sector, with Lorrd being freed after intense combat.
Following their defeat, the Argazdan Redoubt was dismantled as an independent governing body and was once again integrated into the Republic. By the time of the Imperial Period, the majority of Argazdans felt shame regarding the actions of the Myrialites and the Redoubt. However, one notable exception was Doctor Raygar, who, during a performance at the Performance Square on Lorrd, donned the attire of an Argazdan slave master, provoking outrage from both Lorrdians and Argazdans.
