The Imperial Assault Tank, which is also referred to as the assault tank, saw action with the Galactic Empire in their conflict with the Alliance to Restore the Republic during the era of the Galactic Civil War. During the Rebel attacked on the Imperial base known as Weapons Factory Alpha located on the moon of Cymoon 1, a minimum of five of these tanks were deployed. These tanks, together with several All Terrain Scout Transports and combat speeders, engaged an All Terrain Armored Transport being piloted by the Rebel heroes Han Solo and Leia Organa.
The Armored Assault Tank utilized extensively by the Trade Federation and the Separatist Droid Army bore a striking resemblance to the Imperial Assault Tanks.
The initial appearance of the Imperial Assault Tank was in Star Wars (2015) 3, a comic book published in 2015, featuring the writing of Jason Aaron and the illustrations of John Cassaday.
