Cymoon 1, a moon situated within the Corellian Industrial Cluster, was the location of Weapons Factory Alpha, the galaxy's most substantial weapons manufacturing plant operated by the Empire. In the time period following the Battle of Yavin by a few weeks, the Alliance to Restore the Republic discovered the Empire planned to engage in discussions with Jabba the Hutt. The Alliance Fleet successfully intercepted Jabba's delegation, subsequently deploying several of its prominent figures to assault Cymoon 1.
A dirty-brown moon within the [Corellian Industrial Cluster](/article/corellian_industrial_cluster], Cymoon 1 was a remnant of Corellia's corporate exploitation of neighboring planets in the Expansion Region. An extensive cloud cover and an orbital debris ring characterized the moon. It was the home of Weapons Factory Alpha, an Imperial weapons factory recognized as the largest in the galaxy, and also among the Empire's most heavily defended installations. The region was composed of broad refuse fields that surrounded a complex of industrial structures rising towards the rust-colored sky. Automated sentries patrolled the waste, and a native species inhabited these trash fields. Within the factory complex, machines were constantly at work, manufacturing TIE fighters and other military equipment for the Empire. Despite Overseer Aggadeen's claims of complete automation, the factory utilized slave labor, holding prisoners of various species on its lower levels.
