Biography

Rebel assault

Just a few weeks following the Battle of Yavin, Overseer Aggadeen found himself stationed at Weapons Factory Alpha which was based on the moon of Cymoon 1, located within the Corellian Industrial Cluster. While Aggadeen oversaw the weapons production facilities on the moon, his primary focus was on Factory Alpha. An envoy arrived, dispatched from the Outer Rim planet Tatooine. This envoy was sent by Jabba the Hutt, a notorious crime lord, with the purpose of negotiating the shipment of raw materials from Hutt-controlled space to Imperial factories. These materials were intended for the production of Imperial war machines, including TIE/ln space superiority starfighters and All Terrain Armored Transport walkers.

Aggadeen, accompanied by a squad of stormtroopers, awaited the arrival of the shuttle carrying the Outer Rim envoy on one of the factory's landing platforms. The Overseer instructed the stormtroopers to kill any members of the envoy who seemed suspicious in any way. As three humans and an astromech droid disembarked, Aggadeen greeted them in the name of Emperor Palpatine, inquiring about the identity of the person he had the pleasure of addressing. The apparent leader of the group identified himself as the official emissary of Jabba the Great, Mightiest of all Hutts, but his true name was Han Solo. The two exchanged a handshake, with Solo playfully calling the Overseer "Aggie." The Imperials' LOM-series protocol droid verified Solo's identity, and Aggadeen invited them inside the factory, but only after they had left their weapons outside. As the two groups walked through the factory, Solo and "Aggie" discussed the upcoming negotiations. Solo warned that the negotiations would be tough, but Aggadeen revealed to the small time smuggler that there would be no real negotiations. The negotiator would simply state the Empire's demands, which the Hutt's envoy would have to accept. The Empire was too vast to waste time negotiating with criminals or anyone who might slow them down. Solo, unimpressed, pointed out that negotiating with Outer Rim criminals was not the Empire's usual approach. He reminded Aggadeen that the destruction of the Death Star battle station, which had cost billions of credits and many years to build, had drained the Empire's resources.

Leia "thanks" Aggadeen with a punch to his jaw.

Upon reaching the designated negotiation room, Aggadeen invited them inside to await the negotiator. However, Solo insisted on holding the negotiations on the noisy factory floor. Aggadeen questioned Solo's sanity, asking for his reasoning. Solo casually replied that they were not there to negotiate at all. Solo's astromech droid, R2-D2, then began leaking fluids onto the floor, which it then electrocuted, shocking the stormtroopers who were standing in it. Solo and his "bodyguards" proceeded to defeat the remaining stormtroopers in hand-to-hand combat. Aggadeen, now convinced that Solo was truly insane, refused to provide directions to the main power core when asked, claiming that Weapons Factory Alpha was the most heavily guarded base in the galaxy. Solo ignored his refusal and repeated his question. The proud Imperial officer continued to resist until the astromech droid threatened to electrocute him as well. He then pointed them in the right direction and was "thanked" by the female bodyguard with a punch to the jaw.

The Rebels continued their mission, rigging the power core to explode just as the negotiator, Darth Vader, arrived and was alerted to their presence when he was attacked by a sniper. Vader immediately put the entire moon on alert. The rebels freed several slaves and commandeered an AT-AT walker, using it to cause chaos during their escape from the now-doomed factory. Aggadeen and other Imperials attempted to stop the power core's meltdown, but the Rebels' work was too effective, and the meltdown could not be prevented. Aggadeen contacted Lord Vader, requesting permission to evacuate the facility. Vader denied his request, stating, "If this factory explodes, you had best explode with it." Aggadeen obeyed, and Vader further warned him that any further failure would not be tolerated and that the Rebel invaders had to be killed. However, Vader specifically wanted Luke Skywalker alive, as the Sith Lord had other plans for him.

The price of failure

Aggadeen being tortured by Vader.

Following the assault, Vader returned to the Imperial Palace on Coruscant, the capital of the Empire. The Sith Lord held Aggadeen directly responsible for the Rebel's successful infiltration and destruction of the factory. He brought Aggadeen with him to the Palace, where the Dark Lord subjected the Overseer to torture as punishment for the assault on Cymoon 1. Vader's goal was to extract any additional information Aggadeen might be withholding about the Rebel attack, information that could potentially lead him to Skywalker. Vader then presented Emperor Palpatine to the Overseer, assuring his master that Aggadeen would never fail the Empire again. Ultimately, the Overseer was tortured until he died.
