The Athylia functioned as a Pelta-class frigate serving the Jedi Order. Kelleran Beq, a Jedi Master, frequently served on this vessel, working alongside the protocol droid AD-3 and the astromech droid LX-R5.
Serving as a Jedi training facility, the Athylia was a Pelta-class frigate. A hyperdrive and navigation computer were included, and its cockpit offered seating for two crew members.

The Athylia was specifically designed for Star Wars: Jedi Temple Challenge, a show that was broadcast on StarWarsKids.com. Ryan Brett Puckett, the production designer, developed the interior of the starship. Initially, when the ship's name was revealed, it was given as "Thilia."
The hyperspace levers used on the ship were the same ones that appeared in the Millennium Falcon Experience, a touring event which coincided with the release of Solo: A Star Wars Story in May of 2018. David W. Collins, who worked as a sound editor, stated that the sound of the Athylia was created by combining the sounds of the Consular-class space cruiser Radiant VII with Yoda's escape pod. Moreover, the ship incorporated various wall panels and props that were originally intended for the Galaxy's Edge theme park but were ultimately not used there.
Contestants who successfully completed the "Strength Trials" in the show would then move on to participate in a Knowledge Trial that took place aboard the Athylia. After listening to a story read by AD-3, they would divide themselves into pilot and engineer roles and would then be asked questions by Kelleran Beq, who was a Jedi Master. The team that managed to correctly answer all five questions first would be granted access to the "Temple Trials." Cavan Scott, a Star Wars author, was responsible for writing the stories that the contestants listened to.
