In 5 BBY, the Ghost's rebellious team embarked on a mission: to strike and obliterate more than two dozen Imperial interrogator droids. This occurred close to an Imperial hub on the world of Lothal. The rebels, including Sabine Wren and Garazeb Orrelios, assaulted an Imperial convoy, achieving the destruction of the cargo with a paint bomb. Following this, the Empire disseminated a propaganda message via the Imperial Holovision, alleging that a large group of rebels demolished Timely Tutor education droids headed for Lothal's most disadvantaged schools.
During 5 BBY, amidst the nascent stages of the rebellion against the Galactic Empire, the rebellious group aboard the starship Ghost targeted an Imperial shipment of interrogator droids on the Outer Rim planet of Lothal. The rebels, including the Mandalorian warrior Sabine Wren and the Lasat warrior Garazeb Orrelios, executed their operation in proximity to an Imperial facility on Lothal.
Under the cloak of darkness, the rebels initiated their assault, eliminating an Imperial supply convoy heavily guarded by Imperial stormtroopers. The attack involved the use of blasters as the convoy decelerated to a halt between two closely situated hovertrucks. Wren employed a paint bomb to annihilate the shipment, resulting in the destruction of over two dozen interrogator droids. Wren believed the explosion was one of her finest due to the color and artistry involved. The blast lasted for a few seconds, and she captured it on her helmet camera.

The Empire broadcasted a different account of the attack's events on the Imperial Holovision on Lothal. The narrative claimed that mercenaries and alien berserkers—the rebels—assaulted a shipment of Timely Tutor education droids destined for Lothal's most impoverished schools. The Empire also asserted that the rebel force consisted of between twenty-five and fifty insurgents, while the actual rebel crew comprised only five members. Commandant Cumberlayne Aresko implored Imperial citizens on Lothal to expose any known traitors, or Lothal would lose Imperial resources and support.
Wren preserved a clipping of the Imperial report on the attack in her personal journal, expressing delight in her explosive creation. She found humor in the Empire's claim of a large attacking force, noting that the Empire was too embarrassed to admit that they were only attacked by a small band.
The initial mention of the attack on the interrogator droids occurred in the 2015 reference book titled Sabine My Rebel Sketchbook. Daniel Wallace authored the book, and Annie Stoll provided the artwork.
