Bank of the Core Plaza

The Bank of the Core Plaza was a large public square located at the financial heart of Galactic City on the planet Coruscant. The plaza was a center of galactic finance, serving primarily as the headquarters of the Bank of the Core.

History

In 24 BBY, before the Clone Wars, the plaza hosted the inaugural ceremony for the All Planets Relief Fund, one of Chancellor Palpatine's pet projects created in response to petitions from worlds in peril seeking immediate funding that would otherwise have been delayed in the Galactic Senate's bureaucratic quagmire; multiple Senate-member worlds in crystalline vertex were contributing to the fund's central account. During the ceremony's closing moments, as the treasury was escorted under Senate Guard to its designated Core Bank vault repository, members of the Slam gang, in collusion with galactic criminals Granta Omega and Jenna Zan Arbor, attempted a criminal heist of the vertex treasury.The heist diverted all Senate Security personnel from Omega and Zan Arbor's true target: the assassination of Supreme Chancellor Palpatine, who was presiding over a full-Senate debate in the Galactic Senate Building on whether to bar the Jedi Order from further action on behalf of the Senate. Omega and Zan Arbor had also masterminded the debate itself, which resulted from a petition originating with Omega's early sponsor, Eeropha Senator Sano Sauro, whose power-hungry ambitions had turned to the Republic Chancery, and was brought to fruition by Jedi-shamedNuralee Senator Bog Divinian and Jedi-deposedRomin dictator Roy Teda. The conspirators sought to eliminate Jedi interference and Palpatine in a single day.The Bank of the Core Plaza was also the site where Kal Skirata first met the terrorist Perrive during a black ops operation in the Clone Wars.
