Jenna Zan Arbor

Jenna Zan Arbor, a Human female, stood out as a truly unhinged scientist originating from the planet Ventrux. Throughout her devious career, she repeatedly clashed with the Jedi Knights Qui-Gon Jinn, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and the young Anakin Skywalker. During the tumultuous times of the Clone Wars, she held a prominent position as a leading scientist within the ranks of the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Once the war concluded, she found herself forcibly recruited to contribute her expertise to the newly established Galactic Empire.

Biography

Early career

At the inception of her professional life, Jenna Zan Arbor distinguished herself as a renowned scientist and the director of Arbor Industries. She gained recognition for her efforts in rescuing a planet from the clutches of a devastating pandemic by developing a vaccine against a lethal virus. Furthermore, Zan Arbor was celebrated for assisting technologically underdeveloped planets, such as Melasaton, in overcoming their challenges. However, unbeknownst to the public, she was the one who initially instigated these very problems, all in pursuit of financial gain and an enhanced reputation.

Force experiments

Zan Arbor's fascination with the Force led her to initiate a series of experiments aimed at unraveling its mysteries. She maintained connections with Uta S'orn, the senator representing Belasco, who discreetly shielded her illicit activities from scrutiny within the Galactic Senate. Unbeknownst to Senator S'orn, Zan Arbor was secretly studying her Force-sensitive son, Ren (whom his mother had withdrawn from the Jedi Order due to her inability to cope with the prospect of losing him). These experiments inadvertently resulted in Ren's tragic demise, an outcome Zan Arbor had not anticipated. Feeling a twinge of remorse, she sought a subject with a stronger connection to the Force, leading her to hire Ona Nobis, a bounty hunter, to abduct the "retired" Jedi Master Noor R'aya and transport him to her research facility located on Simpla-12. Subsequently, weeks later, another Jedi, Qui-Gon Jinn, was subdued by Nobis in the Cascardi Mountains of Duneeden. He was then taken to the laboratory, where Zan Arbor subjected him to excruciating torture, pushing him to the brink of death.

However, Obi-Wan Kenobi, accompanied by Astri Oddo disguised as Ona Nobis, successfully rescued Qui-Gon. Despite this setback, Zan Arbor issued a chilling warning to the Jedi, revealing that she held another captive—Noor R'aya—and threatened to administer a lethal poison should Qui-Gon attempt to leave the premises. To eliminate any potential liabilities, she callously murdered her assistant, Nil. Zan Arbor then formulated plans to evacuate the planet, enlisting the services of Cholly, Weez, and Tup, droid dealers, to arrange for the shipment of battle droids. However, unbeknownst to her, the trio was secretly assisting Obi-Wan, Siri Tachi, and Adi Gallia in infiltrating her laboratory.

Belasco

With the droids destroyed, Zan Arbor escaped the planet with Noor. She sought refuge on Belasco, where she engineered a virus from the planet's native waterborne organisms. Her intention was to contaminate the population's water supply, designing the bacteria to aggressively multiply when threatened. With S'orn's assistance, she managed to infiltrate the containment facilities and introduce the bacteria. The Jedi eventually caught up to her, armed with the data necessary to cure Belasco. As Qui-Gon pinned her beneath a tapestry, she bitterly regretted her failure to eliminate him when she had the opportunity. Both Zan Arbor and Uta S'orn were sentenced to life imprisonment in a penal colony. The solution to the bacteria Zan Arbor unleashed was discovered on her datapad, and the water supply was successfully restored.

Jenna Zan Arbor

Around 25 BBY, Zan Arbor somehow managed to break free from the penal colony. She established herself on the planet Vanqor and dedicated her efforts to perfecting a drug known as the Zone of Self-Containment. This potent drug allowed her to capture Anakin Skywalker and numerous other innocent individuals. However, she was compelled to flee Vanqor when Obi-Wan Kenobi, Siri Tachi, and Ferus Olin arrived to rescue Anakin. After abandoning Vanqor, Zan Arbor joined forces with Granta Omega, who agreed to finance her subsequent project. She sought refuge on Romin, finding protection under the patronage of Roy Teda and her Phlog bodyguard Hue. When Teda's reign was overthrown, the Jedi arrived to apprehend them, but they once again managed to evade capture.

In 24 BBY, Zan Arbor constructed the Blackwater Systems facility on Falleen with the intention of manufacturing machines designed to disseminate the Zone of Self-Containment. The Jedi, once again, thwarted her scheme, forcing her to destroy the facility. The pursuit led them to Coruscant, where she and Granta Omega orchestrated a failed attempt to assassinate Supreme Chancellor Palpatine, and ultimately to Korriban, where she and Omega were cornered by the Jedi in 23 BBY. When the Jedi eliminated Omega, Zan Arbor fled. She went into hiding and managed to remain undetected by both the Jedi and the Republic. In that same year, when Count Dooku publicly announced the formation of the Confederacy of Independent Systems, Zan Arbor was recruited to serve as one of their leading scientists.

The Clone Wars

Now serving as a scientist for the Separatists, Zan Arbor dedicated herself to creating devastating agents of biological warfare. Several months prior to the Battle of Geonosis, she collaborated with Arkanian genetic researchers to develop the stone mites, microscopic insects capable of devouring entire buildings in a matter of hours. These stone mites were unleashed upon numerous worlds, causing widespread destruction.

Two months into the Clone Wars, Zan Arbor successfully perfected a lethal gas poison that was employed to eradicate the entire Gungan colony residing on the Naboo moon of Ohma-D'un. A variation of this same gas was integrated into the defense mechanism of Viceroy Nute Gunray's mechno-chair.

Early Empire

A year after the execution of Order 66, Zan Arbor was sighted on Korriban by Ferus Olin and Trever Flume, accompanied by a high-ranking Imperial Officer. She instructed the officer to escort her to the Valley of the Dark Lords.

Subsequently, on Bellassa, Olin uncovered evidence potentially linking her to a secret Imperial project. Zan Arbor was collaborating with scientists who had been forcibly relocated from their home planets to contribute to this operation, although weapons systems were not within her area of expertise. She was focused on developing a memory-erasing serum designed to completely erase specific, unpleasant memories. Scientist Linna Naltree was present when the Sith Lord Darth Vader arrived seeking the serum, hoping to eliminate his memories of Padmé Amidala. In exchange for her services, she was promised an apartment in 500 Republica, a personal visit from and starship designed specifically for her by Raith Sienar, and a high-level security pass.

After Vader's departure, Zan Arbor and her assistant encountered fugitives Trever Flume and Ry-Gaul. As the two attacked the scientist, Linna administered the serum via syringe to Zan Arbor, slowly erasing her memories. As she screamed over her fading formulas and fifty years of work, Trevor Flume destroyed her personal datapad, eliminating the threat of Jenna Zan Arbor once and for all. Now an empty shell of her former self, Zan Arbor was left with no identity and a vague sense that she had once been a brilliant genius.

Later, when Vader visited Zan Arbor after she failed to respond to any of his messages, he found her trying to remember her favorite tea, and misremembering her homeworld to be the planet Moseum instead of Ventrux. As she was unable to help him forget Padmé, Vader killed her in a flash of anger.
