Barva-Zul was a human who belonged to the Remainders, a group of former bounty hunters in charge of the Moonbender Colony. As an expert in munitions, Barva-Zul held the position of sheriff for the colony. Sometime between approximately 40 BBY and 32 BBY, the Sith apprentice Darth Maul launched an attack on the Moonbender Colony, prompting Barva-Zul and the other Remainders to try and protect it. Barva-Zul used a blaster cannon to shoot at Maul, which caused the Sith to pull back. While looking for Maul, Barva-Zul came across what he thought was the unconscious Sith apprentice, not knowing that Maul had killed Jeq, another Remainder, and disguised Jeq's body with his cloak. When Barva-Zul discovered the deception, Maul appeared and fatally stabbed the ex-bounty hunter with his lightsaber. In his final act, Barva-Zul set off explosives he had placed in the walls, which were reinforced with durasteel shards, filling the space with shrapnel. Although injured, Maul lived through the blast and went on to eliminate the remaining Remainders.
