Battle of Gyndine

In the early stages of the war, the planet of Gyndine was rapidly established as a safe haven for refugees. Following the Yuuzhan Vong's successful capture of Ord Mantell, a significant number of survivors sought refuge on Gyndine.

Shortly after, the Yuuzhan Vong initiated their own attack on the planet. This assault was facilitated by operatives disguised using ooglith masquers, who incited widespread panic among the populace. Wurth Skidder's assistance proved invaluable in the New Republic's defense of the planet. Despite a determined two-day defense by the New Republic forces, the Yuuzhan Vong managed to incinerate the planet's forests and evaporate its lakes through the use of Fire Breathers, a weapon previously unseen by the New Republic. The initial Yuuzhan Vong assault resulted in the destruction of numerous New Republic refugee vessels, along with their passengers, ultimately forcing the New Republic to abandon the planet, its inhabitants, and the refugees seeking sanctuary there.

Following the conclusion of the battle, the Yuuzhan Vong commenced a gradual process of terraforming the planet, systematically eliminating the refugees stranded on Gyndine. The New Republic successfully evacuated 5,000 civilians from the world, many of whom had been displaced to Gyndine from planets already under Yuuzhan Vong control. A perception of bias against former Imperials arose because the majority of those evacuated originated from planets that were early supporters of the Rebel Alliance.

During the conflict, Klin-Fa Gi was believed to have perished. However, she strategically used the perception of her 'death' to secretly infiltrate Wayland and gather intelligence on Yuuzhan Vong activities.

Admiral Traest Kre'fey later secured a victory for the New Republic at Gyndine in the period leading up to a major battle. A subsequent attempt to liberate the planet during the war ended in failure. Ultimately, Gyndine was recaptured from Yuuzhan Vong control by Boba Fett and his fellow Mandalorians.
