Battle of Xagobah

During the time of the Galactic Civil War -- a conflict between the Rebel Alliance and the Galactic Empire -- the 61st Mobile Infantry of the Alliance engaged the Empire in a battle. This particular engagement transpired within the canyon terrain of Xagobah, an astronomical body, in the year 3 ABY. This clash was a component of Operation Ringbreaker, in which the 61st aimed at a series of vulnerable Imperial locations. The goal was to compel the military forces of the Empire to redeploy from the Kuat Drive Yards, thereby diminishing security in preparation for a concluding assault.

While incurring some losses both in the Xagobah conflict and in a subsequent battle on the planet Naator, the 61st achieved victory. However, the Rebel unit was ultimately unable to bring Operation Ringbreaker to full completion. When the Rebel Alliance Intelligence Service reviewed the campaign, General Crix Madine included Xagobah as one of the targets in his report on the initial phase of Operation Ringbreaker. This report was later incorporated into The Rebel Files, a collection of non-electronic documents archived by archivist Hendri Underholt.

Behind the scenes

The initial reference to the battle on Xagobah appeared in Battlefront: Twilight Company, a novel published in 2015 and authored by Alexander Freed.
