Beetoo, an R-series astromech droid, served alongside Jedi Master Jocasta Nu in the period following the proclamation of the New Order. They piloted a gold Delta-7B Aethersprite-class light interceptor from Jocasta Nu's school to the Coruscant Underworld, where Nu planned to infiltrate the former Jedi Temple in order to retrieve a registry of Force-sensitive children throughout the galaxy. This all took place in those days.
The Chief Librarian assured Beetoo that Jocasta Nu would return soon, and the droid was left to wait with the Delta-7B Aethersprite-class light interceptor. However, Coruscant underworld police officers approached. Following their prior arrangement, the droid alerted the Jedi librarian to the intrusion. Beetoo then detonated the starship to safeguard the Jedi's mission. Despite this sacrifice, the Imperial Security Bureau recovered the remains of both Beetoo and the Delta 7B after Imperial forces discovered a Jedi Order emblem from the starfighter. The wreckage was brought to the ISB Central Office on Coruscant, where Darth Vader was informed and invited to examine it. After a brief confrontation with an Imperial Security Bureau major, during which Vader used telekinesis to briefly restore the Jedi starfighter and Beetoo's forms, the Sith Lord initiated a search for a lone Jedi on the planet.
