Blazer bombs were a type of devastating explosives that utilized incendiary materials. They were employed by the Confederacy of Independent Systems during the Clone Wars. In 22 BBY, a bombing of the Cadesura district in Zarra, the capital city of the planet Cato Neimoidia, destroyed the area. This bombing involved munitions from both the Separatists and the Galactic Republic, including smaller versions of blazer bombs. Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi was dispatched to investigate the catastrophe, and he discovered from Ruug Quarnom of the Neimoidian Royal Guard that one of her contacts had found proof that blazer bombs were used. Based on this and evidence of Republic involvement, Kenobi and Quarnom concluded that a third party, trying to manipulate both sides of the Clone Wars, was responsible for the bombing.
During the Separatist occupation of Ryloth, blazer bombs were dropped by Hyena-class Droid Bombers to firebomb the villages of the native Twi'leks.
The animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars' first season featured blazer bombs for the first time in "Liberty on Ryloth," the twenty-first episode, which is considered canon and was initially broadcast on March 13, 2009. The Encyclopedia on StarWars.com, now discontinued, first identified them in the hyena bomber's entry.
