Blba tree

Blba trees were a species of diminutive, spiky tree that could be found sparsely distributed across the grasslands of the Outer Rim planet of Dantooine. These trees had light brown trunks, green foliage, and served as a source of food for herbivorous creatures like the pikets native to Dantooine. The thorny branches of blba trees occasionally impaled Fabool, balloon-like organisms also found on Dantooine, which were then preyed upon by carnivorous snails. By 34 ABY, several blba trees were growing in the vicinity of a Resistance outpost located on Dantooine.

Behind the scenes

The initial mention of blba trees within the current Star Wars canon occurred in "Visiting Dantooine," an article from the "Guide to the Galaxy" section of Star Wars: Build the Millennium Falcon 37, a publication by De Agostini, around September 16, 2015. The trees' first visual depiction was in "Rebuilding the Resistance," the seventeenth episode from the second season of the animated television show Star Wars Resistance, which was broadcast on January 19, 2020. Lucasfilm Animation artist Jim Moore produced concept art of Dantooine's landscape featuring the trees, dated September 12, 2018.

Within the Star Wars Legends continuity, blba trees were first introduced in Dark Apprentice, a 1994 novel authored by Kevin J. Anderson and the second book in the Star Wars: The Jedi Academy Trilogy. Their first visual representation came later, in Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, a 2003 video game that was created by BioWare.
