Old-style bread oven
An oven of the old style, designed for bread making, served the purpose of baking bread. Its appearance featured a rectangular structure, colored cream, with a gray panel situated in the upper left portion of its front. An alcove was positioned beneath this panel. A sequence of lights, colored red and green, was present on the right side of the device's front. The domicile of Shmi Skywalker and Anakin Skywalker, humans held in enslaved status, was situated in Mos Espa on Tatooine. This city's Slave Quarters Row housed their home. This home was equipped with such an oven on the kitchen counter when the Skywalkers accommodated visitors from off-world during a sandstorm occurring in 32 BBY.
Behind the scenes
The old-style bread oven made its debut in the 1999 film Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace, a part of the prequel trilogy. Within the current Star Wars canon, its identification was first presented in the 2016 reference work titled Star Wars: Complete Locations. The designation "old-style bread oven" initially appeared within the Star Wars Legends continuity. Specifically, it was identified in Inside the Worlds of Star Wars: Episode I, a 2000 reference book authored by Kristin Lund, referring to the oven.
