C2-B9, an R5 series astromech droid originating from Industrial Automaton, at one point found itself in the service of Jabba Desilijic Tiure within his palace situated on the planet of Tatooine. While stationed there, it internally recorded data that included a reprimand related to someone's attitude, as well as an inquiry regarding the repair of a barge. The recording also contained a visual of various palace inhabitants, featuring a pair of Jawas, the Frog-dog Buboicullaar, and the Snivvian known as Geezum.
By the year 34 ABY, C2-B9 underwent refurbishment and began functioning as a repair droid. It eventually arrived at Black Spire Outpost on the planet Batuu during the occupation by the First Order. The droid belonged to the Droid Depot present in the outpost, and it was showcased as part of a droid display positioned behind a railing on a plinth just outside the depot's entrance. C2-B9 possessed an R5 dome characterized by a black sensor and paneling in orange and white. It carried a star map depicting a section of the Slice area within the galaxy.
The animatronic prop of C2-B9 made its debut within the themed area known as Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge, which was unveiled to visitors at both Disneyland Park and Disney's Hollywood Studios in 2019. This particular prop is designed to rotate its head and produce beeping sounds. Simultaneously, the droid was also featured in the Star Wars: Datapad application that launched in conjunction with the opening of the themed land.
